Punjab police are inadequate. They have to rank as one of the worst police units in the world. They are amateurs and corrupt.

Where is 2000 man elite force unit which is supposed to be doing this?

Even if its corrupt and inadequate it has done the job. Like I said groups like SSP and LeJ are not challenging the writ of state. Its extremely rare that they open fire on police and the terrorists reported to have died in police shoot-outs are almost always shot and killed extra judicially by police while in their custody (i.e. encounters, SS has the penchant for 'fori insaf').

JuD is a different ball game altogether, our 'assets' operate under khaki guidance and are beyond the control of provincial governments.

Most of the madrassas in punjab belong to deobandis and are mostly controlled by Maulana Fazal ur rehman of JUI-F. Intelligence agencies should register all the madrassahs and put them under permanent surveilance. There should be zero tollerance for all kinds of extremists.

On the other note , punjab provincial intelligence agencies are always in permanent operation mode against criminals and terrorists that is the reason why the law and order situation in punjab is relatively better than other provinces.
