Punjab govt to hold Sikh conventions in Lahore, Nankana Sahib: CM Buzdar

This is a pretty well known fact that during Benazir reign in 90s, she gave up to India crucial information that helped India to crush the earlier Khalistan movement.

Let me tell you; it was nothing except bullshit.

Posted this in another thread but gonna leave it here as well.

"Road to Kashmir is through Indian Punjab". If Pakistan wants to achieve her strategic goals in the region Indian Punjab have to be supported in their struggle for Khalistan. There are multifaceted benefits for that for Pakistan, by having local punjabi support who still have some what soft element and more ethnic/linguistic connection with Pakistan than india, will make it very difficult for India to engage Pakistan from Punjab's border. Also, they directly neighbors Kashmir, Kashmiris haven't risen up against Indians as much as they should've had, probably because they are one against many. With one more bordering state being hostile towards india will be last nail in India's coffin. Also in OP, water issue is talked about. Kashmir is indeed primary water source but runs through Indian Punjab. And that's where Pakistan shall look in to.

True, very true......but "how" we do it is the critical part. We tried in the 80's as well but after a time the whole idea reached a saturation point. Slowly and steadily the world aligned itself with India.

Smoking is injurious to your health. :P

:partay: Indeed …. but it was so good that it could not resist :enjoy:

The current approach is the steps in right direction, sense of ownership that they belong here, there holy places, language and culture belong here. That's the connection India don't have. Although what Pakistan is doing is in right direction but this have to be paced up.

Even if this is a viable argument, there is wider context to this and cannot be ignored.
For example, 1). Pakistan is trying to claw its way out of the clutches of FATF. 2). There is a relatively new govt. in Pakistan (or was at that time) and had offered a hand of peace to India. This step, at that time, would have been contradictory. 3). US, where they would stand respond, was not clear at all.

I am Pakistan's NSA did consider, but decided to take a different route (the one we are seeing now :azn:)
I think you didn't understand the issue. It was just a referendum by the Sikh community that whether they want an independent Khalistan or not. If the majority voted in its favour then it would have become an international issue and Sikh community in Pakistan is really small fraction of their totally population i.e. Eastern Punjab and Western world (USA, UK, Canada etc). Conducting referendum is totally legit. There have been many referendums like in 2014 there was by Scotish people and they narrowly voted in favour of staying in UK i.e. 51:49... Similar was in Catalonia, Spain.

Exactly - 100% true.

And this seems to be a "natural progression" as well....rather than an outside intervention.

Yes, it will need to be paced....for this Sikhs have marked 2020 as the year of referendum for Khalistan....again! an "inside out" approach.

Sir!

1). India will never offer the referendum.
2). The year of referendum is coming - 2020 is marked. We need to take it to there.

Sir, that's their headache. I'm talking about Pakistan. When this moron of our PM declined it, it gave a very bad message to the Sikh community. Referendum is totally a legit demand.

Pakistan shouldnt support so called Khalistan. Indian punjab isn't disputed, they acceded out of their own will. Let them fight out their battle if they no longer want live in. IoK is different in a sense that despite being acceded to India voluntarily, it was decided that referendum will be held.
bhai jan.. why not support two, or maybe three independence movements rather than one?

There is little to support because sikhs living in India have given up. Sikhism and hinduism is basically same religion anyway.

Sikhs are monotheists.
Hindus are idol worshippers.

Indian is involved in Balochistan insurgency ( Making movies n series as a hybrid war where balochistan is mentioned ) we should atleast Peacefully support Sikhs struggle for Khalistan while India is supporting Balochistan insurgency in every possible way .

Let the sikhs hold their convention but the government shouldn't get involved in holding it. I understand that they want to cause problems in indian punjab but joining in the celebrations of other religions is not the way to do this. Muslims have been warned against such behaviour in hadith.

It's like stabbing yourself just so you can throw a punch at your enemy.

I think the current government doesn't really think things out. And whilst we constantly hear them talking about Medina, they seem to do things which aren't maybe islamically right. . It was the same story with that ranjit singh statue, to try and slap india in the future, they ended up punching themselves in face first.

Try and cause problems all you want but don't sell out your own religious values or honour in the process.

Good one. Will open up Modi's eyes. Afghanistan is drawing to close and now PA can deal with these Baniyas with full force.
