PTI are doing some excellent work to tackle malnutrition. They recently rolled out a program to provide food for pregnant women and funds for new born babies.

Media has no interest in such things. Also I blame our government. PPP and Noon league would pay to have the right stories printed - why can't PTI? The owner of ARY is literally sitting at the PM's side. What is PTV reporting? How are things like this allowed to go unheard?! Its like they're saving it for a rainy day or something. That still doesn't excuse their lack of improvement of PTV. If i want news i go to bbc.co.uk, why is nobody going to PTV.pk or whatever a Pakistani equivalent is? If they utilised their own platforms or even platforms that are friendly to them, they could reduce the amount of negativity up and down the country.

If this had been in the UK I can tell you the news format.

1. Govt would announce in a press conference
2. it would be on bbc news
3. it would be circulated amongst govt allies in social media and print media
4. BBC news would have reporters in the areas where it is due to be implemented and speak to local people and local officials. Their opinions would form part of the news.
5. Once the program was actually rolled out they'd do a follow up story with interviews of local people, children who benefit from the scheme, teachers etc, an interest peice to showcase the impact on the changes. This would then be national news.

What do we get from PTV? Nothing.

Brilliant initiative, I still remember my school meals when I was at school some of the best times were sitting together with my classmates and having lunch together, it's not just food and nutrition that you are giving to these kids, many of them will be eating out without their families present to influence them so it will build confidence and specially for the poor who don't send kids to school so they can earn money for food. This will give them an incentive to at least get one meal from school.

Also you are in a mixed class with people from different sects, socio-economic backgrounds, all eating equally (hopefully) would instill good value and a respect for different people, their backgrounds etc. I do hope this is regulated strictly so funds are used for food ONLY. People in Pakistan need to keep such politicians in power for their own good. Keep PMLn and PPP away from power at all costs.

This is great as it will encourage children belonging to poor families to enroll in schools for a free meal.. win win situation... feed the hungry while educating them
