LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to regulate the Friday sermons to maintain interfaith harmony among various religious groups in the province.

According to a report in Daily Jang, the provincial authorities will provide draft of sermons to the prayer leaders to be delivered during Friday prayers.

The Department of Auqaf is being directed in this regard, it said. The officials shall provide sermons to the clerics belonging to different sects and action will be taken against violators.

The permission will be sought from the provincial cabinet, the report said.

Good but Instead of fixing one sermon government should publish official book of sermons on all important topics on which people needs to be educated to make it more productive. And try to keep all the quotes limited to Quranic verses only as nobody have any dispute over it.

Friday sermons should regulated all around Pakistan and Imams should be given hand outs in advance to discuss social issues and raise awareness, like:
- Environmental issues(cleaniness, trees plantation, green environement etc)
- Civic sense (how to be good role model law abiding citizen)
- Education
- Women participation in all walks of life
- Minority rights and tolerance
- Denouncing Extremism
- How extravagance should be avoided
- Patriotism/Economy/Diplomacy etc etc

.
they do have disputes over it. all of the sects have their own widely differing interpretations instead of linguistically straight translations

If they can't agree on Quran as well than handover translation of some Shakespeare's novel which should be read in Friday sermon.

or they could simply be forced to learn the language of the Qur'an before they are allowed to become prayer leaders, lecturers and preachers etc.

1 sermon at a time...So that people going to any mosque will hear the same and also to
maintain interfaith harmony among various religious groups in the province.

Also
provide sermons to the clerics belonging to different sects and action will be taken against violators.

Great. This is standard practice across the Muslim world. If unrestrained, religion can be used to do much wrong, maligning it and its followers in the process.

I give a simple example, anyone who has studied in Pakistan would remember the small book with the green dome of Masjid e Nabvi. The book was called dinyat.....not Islamiyat. It had lists of rights of people, neighbours etc. Difference between Huqook Allah and Ibad. Just elaborate from here. This is a basic that was taught in class one and no one seem to follow it and we are concerned with what the other sect does or doesn't.

Arabic is/was mother tongue of Arabs, did it made any difference?

Arabic of Quran and living language of Arabs are as different as ye olde English from before Shakespeare's time and present day English. Arab clerics have almost as difficult time understanding it as do Pakistani mullahs

Allah says Quran and it's guidance is for the men of Intellect, and those who reflect.

How many modern day Arabs would fit that category? It's not about the ability to know the language. It's about carrying enlightenment and consciousness to be willing to receive a message.
