Drone attacks breeding new batch of terrorists: Shahbaz Sharif
BEIJING: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that that the mistakes of the former rulers had rendered Pakistan from a land of peace into a hotbed of terrorism adding that every Drone attack bred a new batch of terrorists. He expressed these views while addressing the office-bearers of the Communist Party at its central office in Beijing Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was accorded a warm welcome by the senior leadership of Communist Party of China when he reached Beijing on Monday
The Communist Party leadership expressed the hope that the current visit of Shahbaz Sharif would promote a better understanding among Chinese politicians and rulers about the problems being faced by Pakistan as well as help find their solution. Addressing a reception hosted in his honour immediately after his arrival at Beijing Airport, Director General Foreign Affairs Wing of the Communist Party, Zhang Xuyi said that the visit of Shahbaz Sharif as the head of the biggest province of Pakistan was an honour for the Communist Party, the Chinese government and the people. The Chief Minister said that he had come to China with the agenda of seeking Chinese cooperation for Punjab in education, health and energy sectors. He said that the visit would provide in an opportunity to him and his delegation to closely observe the working of the Communist Party and the consequent progress made by China.
Later, addressing the office-bearers of the Communist Party at its central office, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan was passing through a critical juncture and besides other problems, Drone attacks which were causing deaths of hundreds of innocent citizens, had become a serious issue. He said that the mistakes of the former rulers had rendered Pakistan from a land of peace into a hotbed of terrorism. He said that every Drone attack bred a new batch of terrorists. He said that the horrible consequences of the so-called holy-war against Russia were an open secret. He said that Chinese support and assistance to Pakistan was all the more necessary in the existing circumstances. He said that China had always helped Pakistan in the time of need whether it was the Kashmir issue or Indo-Pak wars. However, he said, instead of Chinese assistance, Pakistan wanted Chinese investment and bilateral trade as it was the only way it could stand on its own feet. Referring to the regional situation vis-à-vis Afghanistan, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan should give up its old policy and provide an opportunity to the people of Afghanistan to make their own destiny. However, he said, China and Iran would have to play their due role in ferreting out an indigenous solution to the problems of the region. He said that the way Chinese Communist Party had steered the country out of crises on a number of occasions through its commitment and dedication to the Chinese people was a glaring example for the other countries of the world.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Wing of Chinese Communist Party, Ai Phing in his speech said that Pak-China friendship had stood the test of time and China considered Pakistan as its close friend.
Earlier, Chief Minster met Chairman of China World Peace Foundation, Lee Ru Hong. There was unanimity of views between the two leaders that a sustainable peace was essential for the progress of nations. The Chief Minister also visited China’s biggest bus manufacturing company Photon. It was decided in the meeting that a modern and comfortable bus service would be started in major cities of Punjab with the cooperation of China. The Chief Minister also met senior officials of various Chinese companies for hydraulic power projects in Punjab. During these meetings, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan could overcome its energy crisis with the help of China.
