Punjab Assembly: 34 independents join PML-N

LAHORE: Thirty-four successful independent Punjab Assembly candidates from several cities of the province have announced their decision to join Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) after the party won the historic May 11 polls, DawnNews reported.

PML-N swept Punjab to secure a huge mandate, enjoying clear majority as opposed to other political parties, which will enable it to form a government in the province without needing any other party’s support.

Moreover, in order to strengthen its position and enlist independent candidates, the PML-N has formed a committee consisting of Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Saad Rafique.

Thirty-four independent candidates met Hassan in Raiwind and announced their decision of joining PML-N, strengthening the party’s position in Punjab even more.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf, which is the second largest party in Punjab, has secured only 18 seats in the Punjab Assembly while other political parties have not even been able to reach the 10 digit.

This indicates that the PML-N would not be facing a strong opposition in Punjab.

Yes - US/Saudia/India & establishment asked people to vote for PML-N in Punjab & PPP in Sindh and MQM in Karachi. Stop crying like babies and focus on next election.

In any case if as suggested in Red above the Army too is ' involved' then why even crib ?

Most of PTI supporters are young, emotional and well to do people who were voting for the first time. So this disappointment is somewhat understandable. Give them some time and they will start acting normal.

P.S I too voted for PTI but I am one of their mature voters who will not even think for a second to vote them out in next elections if they don't perform!

PMLN is truly s Punjabi party, their slogan of jaag punjab jaag has paid dividends. Pakistan is now punjabistan for 5 years, the whole structure of National assembly seats need to be changed, each province should have equal numbers of seats in national assembly regardless of population.

Victory of PMLN is truly a sad day for those who don't have Punjabi heritage. Mr Nawaz shareef once said Hindu and Muslims are same and one nation and that he shares eating habits, culture, language with them, just separated by a boundary. With these words Mr Nawaz Shareef eliminated the pukhtoons and baloch from the Pakistani society.We share all of the above with our cousins across our western border but we never ever gave such statements as we thought of other pakistsnis too.

Pakistan is dead Punjabistan is born.

If the elections were fair and Pti lost then accepting defeat was an honour but they were clearly rigged, its not a question of why pti lost but how they lost.

These elections showed the true side of Punjabi nationalism, Mr Shareef won only and only in punjab hence his government is not a national government but a representative of Punjabi people.
