Note by Awab Alvi on Tahir-ul-Quadri (TuQ) statement on Azadi March
Abundant criticism on PTI regarding TuQ joining Azadi March. Yesterday, even to the surprise of the PTI CEC meeting, TuQ at around 9pm announced to join PTI's
#AzadiMarchPTI - which took many by storm, critics speculating and dejected supporters etc.
Soon a party position emerged - that we had invited ALL parties (except you know who) so if TuQ wants to join sure, its OUR march against election rigging and we shall remain totally within the constitution.
This TuQ move may seem to be a check-mate on PTI's Azadi March - I think we had TWO CHOICES, give up on the March for the fear of TuQ & what he may do (& to succumb to the games & wishes of the status quo), OR take control of the situation and continue marching against election rigging
To fear that TuQ workers will riot (and PTI would not have???) truly even I knew that if Punjab Govt offered any resistance to the Azadi March protestors hard as anyone may try, a full scale riot would emerge - fact,
Peaceful Democratic protest is our fundamental right, to violate that, by undemocratic force is wrong, to then put the blame on the peaceful protestors and use it to as an excuse to protect the Sharif? is establishment logic
PTI maintains it is a PEACEFUL PROTEST we want to reach Islamabad and press our demands peacefully - depsite all the emotional hurdles they may thrown at us we need to keep our focus on changing Pakistan, not live and give up with the fear of what TuQ may or may not do.

This is the right stance. This march is PTI's march for electoral reforms, Qadri cannot hijack it and shouldn't be allowed to.
Good to know that PTI has this thing in mind and does not want to get into Qadri's shenanigans.
