In a bid to highlight the plight of ordinary citizens in Karachi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Joint Secretary Alamgir Khan has quite literally taken to the streets of the metropolis.

The campaign aims to highlight the day-to-day problems faced by the ‘ordinary man’ in the city. Everything from potholes to improper garbage disposal, Khan wants to start a movement that will shame the Sindh government into doing its job.

Karachi’s creaking infrastructure

Khan took to the streets with a team of supporters to launch the “Sleeping Beauty – Please Wake Up” campaign. The team spray painted Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah’s face on the roads to bring attention to unattended issues around the city.

only identity is that I am a Pakistani,” Alamgir says in the video.

“There are no facilities in the city and we face issues in every aspect of our daily lives. I am like any other Karachi resident, but I will not sit quietly like the others,” he adds.

“I am launching a campaign against the system,” he says, while asserting that this was just the beginning of the campaign. “I will put these pictures on every corner of Karachi.”

“Eat it! As poor children do,” said one of the signs, pointing to a pile of garbage on a street corner.

In his Facebook post, he urged all young Karachiites to join him in his cause, adding that he alone could not make a difference or attract attention to the campaign.

“Ideas are bullet-broof, hence I have no fear,” the PTI member concluded. The Sindh government has made no comment on the campaign as of yet.

Banksy of Pakistan :D

Saw this guy on news channel 2 days ago :D

Hats off to him.

I hope they do not arrest him for something falling under wall chalking.
For those who cant make stencils, they can make panaflex posters of politicians and put them near garbage areas, open man hole etc.

Tried to make a fake police case against him. :/

.
So remain clean places he making dirty to chalking there, any civilized society count it as insane move.

.
hats of to Alamgir Khan best thing of his campaign is that it worked on very first day and CM Sindh took action on it

.
What else could you expect from them? :/

Anyway the idea is out now.
With just a little more exposure at social media this thing could spread like fire.

And people are at the fault as well.
That garbage on road side is not thrown by zardari, nawaz sharif etc. Neither its the place to dump garbage.
But people treat every place as a dustbin and when too much of garbage is accumulated they start bashing politicians.

Now we need someone like this to teach people throwing garbage out of cars a lesson.

Yale students once protested against racial insensitivity & free speech with chalk. Students in Hong Kong did too. Happened in Manchester too.
We should have right to peaceful protest. :)

Agree agree agree. We as a society needs to change too. We can't blame government for everything, but when there's need of fixation of something. Which is under their responsibility, they should work on it. :)

Does that look like a clean place?
Will you eat, sleep there or walk bare foot at such place?

Check out how and why street art came into existence in civilized societies.

Right, but there are also might be dozens way to point it out and protest. Why not he start some volenteer work to clean up it by himself and party? To make an example to clean own streets etc.

Trust me volunteer work is already playing major role in stand of this country. It is at least better than firing up the tires and breaking the glasses of cars. :)

Dozen ways?

Can you tell me those "dozen" ways of yours which are not tried before?

Voluntarily cleaning, pointing it out on social media and on tv everything has been done but no or very little effect.

Chalking is a dislike act in civilized societies, painting on walls which are allowes by any government on specific places is different thing. Here you pointing out a dity place making another place dirty. Ap ke kheyal mein wo baba Na Qaem Shah do wake up by such acts? I don't think so! So keep continue to appreciate this useless move. See u around and have a lovely day.

There are like many many many volunteers that already did that but in the end it's the job of Government
