Constituencies cannot be based on population alone, some constituencies of Balochistan have a few thousand votes, while the constituencies of Karachi, Lahore have hundreds thousands of votes. Where the population is less, the votes in the constituencies will be less but the area of these union councils to administer would be more. Where there are more votes, the area will be less.

PPP has a large support base in Karachi. More so in outskirts or newly formed districts and lesser in suburban districts.

The demographics of Karachi have changed from the early 2000s and this is reflected in the recent polls.

Suburban Karachiites have voted MQM and JI traditionally which is reflected in the poll results.

Joining hands of JI with PPP will dent JI big time. I think they will not destroy what they have earn and done otherwise they will get the tag " Sab aik jesay hai"

Although the ideological differences between PPP and JI may well be too big a hurdle, but impossible surely not given the dire circumstances of the city.
