He is not, this is Lahore you're talking about not the Village Side. I could understand if this election was in the Dihat and Aleem Khan was given the ticket, but not in an Urban City like Lahore. This election has been lost even before it was fought, although Jahangir Tareen should win his seat comfortably.

The only problem is he did not waste billions on the dharna. so IK has to pay back aleem khan some way.

Good Point, but i am perplexed how the Core Committee arrived at this decision? Aleem Khan is quite infamous, has many skeletons in his closet, and to field him in a by election as important as this is simply beyond me. Waleed Iqbal or Dr. Yasmeen would have been the perfect candidates to counter Ayaz Sadiq. Both well educated, extremely well liked and not an ounce of corruption charge has ever been leveled against them. Waleed Iqbal would have been my favorite due to his age and the family name he carries.

On a side note, i must say although Aleem Khan is not the best candidate for this by election but he certainly is one of the most hardest working PTI worker i have seen. He is on call 24/7, and is by far the most important figure for PTI Lahore. They call him the trouble shooter, always the go to person to solve any problem.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan announced on Saturday to hold a sit-in in front of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad if its members do not tender their resignations by October 4.

Imran Khan, who was addressing a public gathering after chairing a party meeting in Lahore, said “there was no justification for the ECP members to hold their posts after 21 political parties had claimed that rigging took place during the 2013 elections".

"We will stage a sit-in on October 4 infront of the ECP's office in Islamabad if the current members do not resign from their posts," said Imran Khan.

Imran on the occasion, invited all his party activists and supporters to join the planned sit-in.

The high-level party meeting was held in Lahore to decide the future course of action and policies regarding the upcoming by-polls in the constituencies where elections tribunals have ruled in favour of PTI.

"For the upcoming by-polls, we will install cameras in every polling station and will train our polling staff to ensure a free and fair election," said Imran while referring to the upcoming by-polls.

“Jehangir Tareen will contest the polls from Lodhran, and from Lahore we will field Shoaib Siddiqui and Aleem Khan," added Imran.

"We do not have any faith in the current members and officials of the ECP as they are PML-N's B team," stated Imran.

Referring to the elections held in 2013, Imran said “We contested the elections as for the first time in Pakistan there was an independent judiciary."

He added that his political party would not have taken to the streets if their earlier demand of opening four constituencies had been entertained by then chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

“After the judiciary under Iftikhar Chaudhry refused to open the four constituencies, it became clear to us that everyone was involved in the rigging,” stated Imran.

“I had asked for only for four constituencies, and I knew that they would not have obliged me as they were protecting those who had rigged the elections,” added Imran.

Imran Khan also said that he respects Justice Nasirul Mulk, as he constituted a free and fair Judicial Commission, and that he accepted the report issued by the commission which claimed that there were 'illegalities and malpractices' during the 2013 elections.

Earlier this week, Imran Khan had warned all members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to transparently answer the questions he raised or he will take to the streets once again.

He had criticised the reply he had earlier received from the body over a letter he had sent questioning its shortcomings in light of the Judicial Commission report, Khan said it was his right to pose questions not only as a Pakistani but also as the chairman of a major political party.

Last week, while addressing a press conference, Imran Khan had said that the ECP provincial officials have no legal or moral standing left and they should immediately resign.

He had also stated that the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) chairman should also tender his resignation as he was part of covering-up the rigging that took place in the general elections of 2013.

The ECP on August 22 had de-notified National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq after receiving a copy of the decision announced by Punjab election commission's tribunal.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq had defeated PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the 2013 general elections from NA-122 after which PTI had challenged the results.

He may have a strong Tola of supporters but that doesn't make him the right choice. He is a known thing, Land mafia, he even told his gunman to fire at some PTI supporters outside his house. His reputation is PRETTY bad among PTI supporters. No way he can win the election. If i still lived in my former halqa i would never advise anyone to vote this guy.

He is the most popular amonst the workers of PTI. he was not given ticket in 2013 , even though all jalsa were arranged by him, all PTI offices are given by them. but he proved his loyality to the party and stick to it. he was main source of funding when imran khan was stuck in long march. all the people ran away when tear shelling was started it was aleem khan who stood with imran khan .
only he have the resources and workers to fight this election PTI didnt have any other candidate which wanted to compete in By election .

i might be wrong , but there is difference btw supporters and workers. That last bits of lines from your paragraphs i agree but we all know how he won the inter party election seat with rigging among other people too! not just him!. I just can't trust him. He seems a hotheaded thug sorry. No party leader orders firing onto its own supporters.

That did not happen, these were cooked up stories. Trust me, at the time i was quite involved with PTI Lahore's politics at the time, the story is something totally different.

He certainly is a shady character, and i am not happy that he was given the ticket. But, one has to admit that he is one of the hardest working and the go to person in PTI Lahore. He gets things done, most of the others are just vocal but no action.

Again i have a trustable source from which i heard this. He is a PTI 'worker' and is the former president of Punjab ISF. He told me this the night after this happened. He even told me that the PTI supporters at which he fired, they later went to bani gala and informed IK about this, IK didn't seem happy about it at all. My source seemed pretty confident about it happening. He's been closely involved with PTI's student federation and attended some meetings along with other ISF members at BaniGala too..

Something that these people do NOT understand. This is NOT the time and the place for these fools to be setting up more intolerance and politically dangerous sit-ins and all. Pakistan needs two more years to push through to complete MANY critical projects for her sake. This IK fool needs to give the nation a break and let the work finish. Anything that might happen to the political environment, would push Pakistan STRAIGHT into India's hopes!!! Many projects would stop and a lot of negative crap will happen.

Any little screw up or damage will hamper MANY critical projects that are being done starting next year till 2019, which will change Pakistan's future!!!! Why are you guys SO blind about your own country's progress and care???? Let IK or whoever win when they can, but don't do any violence. The world needs to see Pakistan as a stable country, the NASDAQ has registered Pakistan and many other good things are happening, why is there any need for bad-press and sit-ins and all????
