ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is not done with head-hunting just yet. The party, which has seen a number of high-profile politicians join its ranks in recent weeks, is set to keep luring seasoned politicians to adopt its vision for change, The Express Tribune has learnt.

With rallies across the country and growing support from all realms of the political arena, the party is confident that it will be ready to compete against the incumbent government well ahead of the next general elections, an official told The Express Tribune.

“We have focused our attention towards the December 25 rally to be held in Karachi,” said an official of the party, hinting at the likelihood of former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MNA Marvi Memon announcing her decision to join the party.

In addition, the party has also been in contact with former foreign minister Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri from PML-Q, former Speaker of the National Assembly Hamid Nasir Chatta and former information minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, The Express Tribune learnt.

According to sources, Awami Muslim League(AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has requested for a merger between AML and the PTI. However, a decision has not been taken in this regard, a party official told The Express Tribune.

“Perhaps PTI will not go for an alliance with any political party,” he added.

PTI is scheduled to hold a meeting of its core committee next week in which issues related to the
recruitment of new candidates is to be discussed in detail.

“If someone joins PTI it does not mean he would be awarded a party ticket as well,” an official of the party said when asked whether PTI would be able to fulfill its commitment of recruiting only “clean politicians” at a time when it was mostly recruiting old faces. The official added that tickets would be awarded to those who would meet the criterion laid down by the party, he added.
Recent additions

In Lahore, former Punjab governor Mian Azhar who was discarded by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) joined the PTI during a rally at Manto Park in October. The party received an additional push on November 27 when former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi joined its ranks in Ghotki after resigning from the National Assembly and his former party PPP.

Former Intelligence Bureau chief Masood Sharif Khattak, former district Nazim Malik Ghulam Abbas and former member National Assembly from PML-N Faiz Tamman from Chakwal also joined the PTI.

.
This fake dumb leader who has only 1 thing to say that he hates nawaz sharif is not capable to to anything by collecting used old garbage...By taking main AZhar in his party IK have really showed his true color where he stand on this thinking ...

.
Marvi was seen as a prospect since long..... She enjoys goodwill among common Pakistanis too...has raised her voice against the prevailing ills on every appropriate forum....her joining PTI wouldn't be a surprise and also a plus for it.... for her.... she can win her seat....

Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri is a heavyweight.....a seasoned politician ...... Can boost the party Image by manifolds ....and also can/will trigger the band wagon effect....drawing many winning horses from PML-Q stable...... also can work as pretty effective mouth peace for the PTI..... Getting hold of him should be top priority for PTI.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad ..... Now the most renowned Politician in Pakistan is an emotional cut ....but seen as an honest and some what sincere man...... for him politics is his lifestyle and no more power greed..... If one observes closely, his political stance and PTI stance pretty much fall in line .... getting them together doesn't seem a problem superficially..... but for know I don't see him leaving his newly formed party and neither PTI (which is on the roll) going for any kind of merger.... Sheikh Rasheed also knows that beating PMLN in his constituency has now become a hard nut to crack....specially after him losing the bi-elections....... though he may get lucky to benefit from the divided vote this time....even if he does so.... what good be a lone wolf in the assembly??? these all questions push one to believe a union is must ...... but then again it wont be that easy.... If and only if he joins PTI ....Boom...... another bombshell on PMLN and Punjab politics.....

Hamid Nasir Chatta .... a pretty much dis-likable figure in all over Pakistan but his own constituency .... the Master of back door politics can comfortably win his seat but over all, will damage PTIs image ... he can also play pivotal roll in Jor-Tor post election scenario.... and that's the dangerous side of keeping him out...

Another important case is that of Atizaz Ahsan ....... though both Imran and Atizaz have admiration for each other .... and against the status quo ..... but he is from the breed of politicians who wouldn't leave his party, no matter how weary of his party, its policies and its leadership...... but if he some how joins PTI..... The balance power will shift sufficiently in favor PTI .... Nawaz league and PPP can help each other in running the merry-go-round.

If these people(excluding chatta) by any chance join PTI.... PMLN would then need a miracle even to have a decent opposition in national assembly....

.
all these so called heavy weights were Ministers during Mushy's time..... where are the new faces .. all what i read these days are old known tried faces joining PTI.... this is not good.....

.
IK is doing well and should continue with the current path........... the media are not giving him a fair share of coverage as opposed to other parties, hence his candidates are not getting well known, hence the move of taking known cleaner faces and causing a split within the main parties..........more and more politicians within the PPP, PML-N and PML-Q are at odds with one another.

The recent Lahore Jalsa appears to have had a huge impact on PML-N and it appears that now they are going for a collision with the government as they have realised that IK is after them along with PPP who wants Punjab, and the Military does not like them either. Hence C Nisar resigned from the NA and it appears that the PML-N is going to all go down this route of resigning from the NA to force elections into the country sooner then 2013 before IK becomes too strong and starts taking away their vote bank.

Correct......But for PTI to get recognized...read power politics and not popular politics.....would need brands....which it unfortunately lacks......rather except Imran there is no other brand....... At least 20 to 25 National level brands would be required to get the party recognized in the power circle and rest everything will fall in its place automatically..... And brands my dear take a lot of time to build..... you do not have that time .... You are asking for a change now...aren't you!!

If Politicians..... no matter to which Party they had affiliations in the past .....but honest and credible in their own capacity can get the job done... then why not ???? These Brands are must for PTIs make or break moment..... The rolling spree has gained quite a momentum and should not be checked on this point...... if PTI miss this moment.... then gone it is with its revolution!

.
Anyone who is concerned about PTI recruiting the 'old faces' should really watch 11/26/11 episode of ' Agenda 360', a CA show on CNBC Pakistan. Hassan Nisar was the guest and he had some interesting things to say.

.
I suggest ppl here give us name of politicans Imran Khan should invite. I bet u will not find any 100% clean politicans. As Hassan Nisar said in a school u have best and worst students. Now its up to school how to get these worst stundets take good marks. In this case school is PTI.

its not the student school matter, the corrupt politicians are mature enough to pave their own way, by including such people, surely PTI is becoming controversial day by day

Shaikh rasheed..... whats wrong with him??? corrupt .....I don't think so.... Loyal (to his country).... probably not if you compare him by the standards of Imran.....but far better then Nawaz, Zardari, Altaf, Asfandiyar, Fazlu etc..... Ya and all assets here and even donated already..... likable???? pretty much, at least not hated, cant say that about Nawaz supporters.... A peoples man..... That he was from day one....and probably the only politician around and actually that is the beauty of his politics.

The Important aspect is his loss in his own constituency ....which was considered impossible before..... this has changed Sheikh Sahab a lot...... his views have changed ..... he felt the jolt of falling from far above..... Housh tehkany agaey hain!

Anyways he wont be joining PPP, PML(Q as well as N), alone he would be no better then Nawabzada Nussrullah Khan.... so what options are left???? the only like minded left is PTI and both can develop a synergistic relationship!

BTW may I tell you back in 2007.... PMLQ last days in power during Musharraf regime ..... Sheikh Sahib and Imran were harshest critics of each other.... but back then politics was different for both ..... and not in his wildest dreams would have shaikh sahib thought that four years down the line Imran will transform into National Leader..... and he might be thinking of joining hands with him!

here is a preview....
