Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has blocked access to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s website owing to a sudden, massive increase in traffic, said Director-General of the ECP’s IT department on Monday.

The website allegedly started receiving 50,000 visits per minute after the ECP began uploading the nomination papers of candidates.
The DG IT said that the ECP website itself had no flaws and the commission is trying to find alternatives to bring the site back up.
The website was unavailable when the ECP began uploading the nomination papers and accessibility remained limited throughout the day.
The ECP website was defaced by an Indian hacker on Friday and remained unavailable for two days till the commission shifted the website to a new server.
The number of visits to the website has increased ahead of the general elections scheduled for May 11.

is that PTA or PTCL if that is PTCL how they own ECP website ????didn't get it

Why put up the nomination papers and then block access to them? It kind of defeats the purpose. So is this a denial of access attack or just some really wide interest?? 50K a minute, don't think that's for legitimate purposes, any tech types to help us understand??

Sounds normal since submissions were more than that and they were told a specific time, ECP IT guys simply failed to do their job and be useful when they had to. :P

According to news sources ECP website was defaced by an Indian hacker on Friday and remained unavailable for two days. Its quite clear that ECP website lacks security measures. Despite of blaming PTCL which is neither responsible for managing and blocking of ECP website, Election commission should opt security measures now.

The site is up and working, I dont know whats all the fuss about. If PTCL really had block any site they wont do it periodically, they could just shut it off. However, this seems like ECP is just trying to find an escape goat and PTCL seemed like the perfect target.
