KARACHI: Pakistan International Airline (PIA) is unable to continue operation uninterrupted because of non-payment of arrears to fuel supplier, Pakistan State Oil (PSO), ARY News reported.
PIA is defaulter of Rs15 billion to PSO which has escalated tension between the government organizations after the latter stopped supply to the former.
The national flag carrier had to face outburst of Karachi to Lahore flight (PK-304)’s passengers today after the flight failed to take off for long due to non-availability of fuel.
The passengers resorted to protest against PIA and lamented that despite expensive fares they could not reach their destination. They questioned that why was PIA selling expensive tickets and not paying its fuel suppliers.
PSO halted its supply to PIA 10 days back because of non-payment of arrears. PIA buys Rs300 million’s oil daily. Later, the supply was resumed after assurance of daily payment.
According to deal, the fuel was being supplied on daily basis. However, PIA even did not make daily payment last day which led PSO to halt fuel supply consequently leaving PIA operations badly disturbed.
