So what are you saying China OWNS these satellites? You had better inform SSTL/DMCii of that fact. The contract with 21AT is to provide 7 years of exclusive imaging services to them using the DMC-3 satellites, the ownership of the actual satellites and any hardware/software are with DMCii and the launche contract is between DMCii and ISRO.

SSTL/DMCii is not allowed to sell these satellites directly to China and had to get government approval for this deal, the deal had to be formulated in such a way to comply with tech embargos in place against China. Hence the agreement between the Chinese gov and our gov, which will allow 21AT to use the satellite services data and prevent Chinese access to the tech developed by the Guilford based SST/ DMCii.

The news article only gives you a partial info...

OWNERSHIP of the satellites rests with SSTL (DMCii), 21AT will be provided access to all the imaging data pertaining to CHINA only. Any imaging data outside of contract still belongs to SSTL.....

Dude, the project management community in Guilford is very small, if you want to know the details of the contract then contact SSTL.

21AT does NOT own the satellite and does on own "100% of the imaging capacity". Do you really think what 21AT paid anywhere cover the building of 3 low earth imaging satellites, the launche costs and the support cost? The 100% pertains to those negotiated areas. I.e over China And some other parts.

Images DMC3 takes say, over Bangladesh is owned by SSTL, and if we want that data we have purchase them from SSTL not 21AT.

21AT came to SSTL to inquire about buying imaging satellites (which SSTL are world leader at), but SSTL is not allowed to sell any tech including associated data to a number of countries (iran, north korea etc) primarily China.
SSTL didnt want to lose a potential lucrative customer, so negotiated a compromise solution, whereby 21AT will get exclusive rights to data they need over China and SSTL will retain rights to other areas.

Tech will not be transfered to China and no Chinese entity will have access to the satellites...this will be retained by DMCii.

The best we have is our CartoSats with CartoSat 2 having .8 Meter Resolution and CartoSat 3 ( Planned ) with a 25 CM.

The Capability of Chinese have imagery satellites has hovered at around 1 meter in the past, the Yaogan 24 ( launched in 2014 ) has a resolution of 0.6-0.8 meters, assuming its resolution is better than its predecessor, Gaofen 2, which had a 0.8 meter resolution.

Typical indian big head, the title wrongly says the indians are launching satelllites for china. The satellites are British, not Chinese.....the Chinese are just buying imaging from the British company.
