Personally, I do not and will not consume dog. It's just not how I was raised and I simply do not view them as edible or tasty (but that's just me). At the same time, I can understand why others would consume dog meat. Not everywhere in the world do people see dogs as equal to humans like how white people view them. White people also sleep and bathe with their dogs, and also do "other things" as well, and i'm pretty sure others would find that strange but who are we to criticize? Different people, different culture, different mentality, different way of life. You may find it disgusting, but that is because you were raised to see dogs as human companions, but that is not the case with other people. Try to understand that YOUR world view, is NOT the worldview of other people.

And believe it or not, there are dogs that are bred for consumption, in the way that you would breed chickens or pigs.

Can't forget about the American Bison, once in great herds of 50 million, now 99% killed off by whites.

What about pain these animals have to endure when they are being tortured or killed? Does cow endure less pain than a dog??

Torture is not the same as being killed. Torture is about inflicting pain for the sake of pain. Of course there would be some pain if a complex organism like a dog, cow, or human being is being killed. That is why as human beings who consumes meat, we should try to kill the animal as quickly and with as little pain as possible. This is not torture.

There is no comparison between a dog and a cow.

To start off, the dog is more intelligent. The more intelligent the creature, the more versatile it is, the more emotional it is, and the more social it is. The most cattle have been to mankind, besides serving as a food source, is to help farming, whereas the dog have been and done much more, anything from hunter, to guard, and to companion. The dog is proactive in its relationship with man, whereas the cow is reactive. The dog seeks to please man, whereas the cow is just simply -- there.

People are not stupid. They are not going to fall for the simplistic argument that the dog is nothing more than the cow. If you value your relationship with another human being as exceptional from relationships to other creatures, then you know that there are gradations of values of relationships, and of those grades, the dog to man ranks the highest.

Dog does not surpass cow in intelligence but Dogs are very social, faithfull & mostly fun loving animal.

Those emotional investments did not came from nothing. Whether the dog is equal or less intelligent than the pig or cow is not the sole reason for why we have greater emotional investments in the dog more than we do in the cow or pig. Other reasons are...???

Dog eating is nothing new. I have seen some people from North east eats dog though I have no proof to back this up.
