Will appreciate indian members could share some feedback about Kejriwal, somehow these days on youtube I have been watching short video clips about him, his party and his performance in Delhi.

They claim to have significantly subsidized the electricity, improve the schools, provide water, improve the government offices and hospitals, are working to improve the sanitation and seem like they are taking advantage of technology to benefit their citizens. The common people who were interviewed had very positive comments about Kejriwal and wanted to see him as CM or Pardhan Mantri.

Is this true that he has performed very well?

And what are his chances of ever becoming an indian PM? If he suppose becomes a PM, what are his views on Pakistan and relations with Pakistan?

@DrJekyll @Joe Shearer @xeuss @SirHatesALot and other indian members please.

Good selection of word to describe them. We again have Wood's "humane and thoughtful" thoughts below.

There is no utopian, idealist solutions to the problems facing this region. This is a discriminatory and prejudiced world, a kind of survival for the fittest, or be extinct.

So this calls for unprivileged and marginalized people to be taken care of...none othe than by the govt. and not by some charity orgs. or NGO's.

People are in favor of a welfare oriented state, call it socialist, communist, any.list.

But how to go about it is still unclear and sounds unachievable and utopian...for a huge country like India.

Looking at the social structure of scandinavian countries would help, but most of these countries have a pop. of about 5-5.5 million. Sweden has a pop. of 10.5 million or so.

I lost count how many times PM IK has cited the example of scandinavian countries in speeches, and that hammering the point was good in a way.

Those "naive fools" have world-wide movements and established entire countries. Even the biased UNO has documented that even war-torn Syria provides better socio-economic facilities to its citizens than India and Pakistan.
I know well that the socio-economic facilities in India are at the bottom of the table even within developing countries. The current administration has failed to make significant progress in the front of alleviating malnutrition, healthcare, etc. The previous administrations were also not much better.

I also believe that the far left is not mentally equipped to give a sustainable solution to these problems.

Then your opinion of me needs to change.
That will happen when your core opinions evolve beyond what you seem capable of right now :laugh:

@N.Siddiqui @Wood, I will reply tomorrow. It's been a dayful of the Russia-Ukraine war so will be able to compose a better post to you tomorrow. I am now just going to log-off and keep updating on the war thread.

Please don't bother with me. I do not have the strength for endless and pointless internet 'discussions' :p:

Zilch. I would honestly prefer someone who has experience managing an large state. Until unless all the Congress factions unites under Mamata, from Pawar to Jagan, 2024 is a done deal for Modi.
Again one day is a long time in politics. Attacking Modi personally has never worked and I hope INC moves beyond Twitter..

Things like these that I have read intrigued me

"POWER SUBSIDY 50% subsidy on electricity bills continues, no major hike in power tariff

FREE WATER Free 20 kilolitre water scheme continues

EDUCATION Over 8,000 classrooms, including refurbished ones, built. Teachers get specialized training, private schools not allowed to hike fee, Rs 10 lakh loan for higher education

MOHALLA CLINICS Of 180 clinics, 160 providing free healthcare. Sites identified for 668 more. Total target is 1,000

MINIMUM WAGES Minimum wages of unskilled workers have been increased from Rs 9,724 to Rs 13,350 per month, for semi-skilled workers from Rs 10,764 to Rs 14,698 and for skilled labourers from Rs 11,830 to Rs 16,182

PENSION HIKED Disability pension, old age pension and widow pension have been increased by Rs 1,000 each

COMPENSATION SCHEME Rs 1 crore compensation for the family of security personnel in case of their on-duty death

DEVELOPMENT IN ILLEGAL COLONIES Laying drains, sewer lines and water pipelines underway.

EASE OF DOCUMENTS 200 categories of affidavits sought by various departments, local bodies and other organisations junked. Only self-certification is required now

LOWEST VAT REGIME VAT rates reduced in several categories from 12.5% to 5%. However, in July last year, the GST was implemented in Delhi."

All this is what people going about their ordinary lives want. Plus he seems pretty educated.
1.power subsidy - it's upto 200 units, mostly help him target his vote bank of slums and lower middle class.

2.Water subsidy - is it even required ?bill on average doesn't go beyond 500 Rs a month, again only for vote bank reasons.

3.Education - its not just about infrastructure ,had that been the case Amity & Sharda Universities would be at top not IIT & IIM's.

4.Mohallah clinics are just rebranded dispensaries, how many govt hospitals had he built ? What has he done to address pollution in Delhi ? odd even ?

5. Minimum wages and Pension would have been increased under any govt. They are demand driven and periodic in nature.

6. Compensation scheme - how many got it ?

7.illegal colonies needs to be rehablitated somewhere else not encouraged by providing sub standard utilities.These colonies will be first one to go down under in an event of earthquake.

8.self certification of documents was announced by Modi.

9.His economic policies are represented by the fact that the key infrastructure development in Delhi is basically halted.
Very few road development,delayed metro constructions.

Only an educated person can play the aam admi from the front while cunningly engulf the power within the party to himself.

INC is a failure even in twitter space. They do not know how to work like the opposition party. INC still seems to think that it is the ruling party :laugh:

Here is a Muslim perspective:

Kejriwal is a Sanghi. There are no doubts about this as his past affiliations with the RSS have come to light. While his party started with a non-religious appeal, it has quickly become associated as a Hindu party that offers better governance and less blood and gore than the BJP. Perhaps this is because the BJP (and society at large) has changed the electoral politics to become more Hindu centric.

Muslims voted for the AAP in Delhi in large numbers and were instrumental it its victory, but have not reaped any benefits from this. That is because Muslims generally vote against the BJP, and the AAP was in the strongest position to defeat them.

He is chief minister of Delhi....
He has chance to win punjab. But there is a mistrust in indian establishment.
And his chances of winning utrakhand and goa are bleak as he is focusing on punjb.
He has best shot at winning punjab if elections are held fare. Bjp and congress has played everything at time.
Besides subcidicing is not good in all of the cases. To subcidise to may exports competitive ia good.
To subcidise to make imports cheaper is bad. They make people lazy.
Anyways in Pakistan too 300 units bill are heavily subcidiced that like 65 percent of all Pakistan.

Congress is nowhere
They are not even second or third in up. Utrakhand is no for them.
And they might win goa but what is goa worth? Nothing.
And yes they are the only contender for punjab. But aam party looks like winning. Bjp surely wont win after farmers protest. It aap and congress.
There are like thousands of steps for kejriwal to win pm of delhi. He is talking slow. One or two provinces at a time.
And then built up on that. But indian establishment and beauracracy is very baised. It has been replaced by saffron class and they want modi.
If modi loose up, then they would attack Pakistan or do something big.

He's very much a regional (read 99% Delhi) player but has Prime Ministerial ambitions.. that's pretty much it in a nutshell.

His weakness, quite admirable in my view, is that he genuinely seems to want to help everyone, but politics, spl in India does not work that way. You know what they say about nice guys and finishing last something something...

Some view him as a chalaak Lomdi, and it's not a bad reading of him. He is a cunning politician just like the rest of them but is still carving out his niche. He might well become PM at some stage if he plays the game well enough but it looks tough, Dilli has only 7 Lok Sabha seats even if he clean sweeps, they are very much still an exclusively regional party, which is to say, they do not have anything close to a pan Indian footprint.

During Delhi elections he gets 60+ seats, during General elections he gets 0 in Delhi.

So a big no, and we don’t need that socialist as PM.

Delhi is a cosmopolitan city, so shouldn't that help negating the negative propaganda? People compare, they tell stories to each other, to family back home.

This is all based on premise that Kejriwal actually has performed.

My interest in Kejriwal is limited to what he thinks about Pakistan and having relations with Pakistan?
It is emphatically not cosmopolitan, in the sense of well-adjusted coexistence, but a series of sliver-like discrete elements.

There are
  • the core old Delhi, Hindu and Muslim living cheek to jowl, with their former adjusted social relations increasingly frayed by political design;
  • the refugee from west Punjab, Hindu and Sikh, bitter against Muslims, but willing to co-exist;
  • the Jats and Gujjars from Haryana, forming most of the police and hostile to everybody, sycophantic towards firm-handed masters,
  • the Sardars;
  • a swathe of Rajasthanis (not Rajputs, Rajasthanis),
  • of Bengalis of the civil service and professional classes;
  • of people from the south, in a permanent state of irritation at being clubbed together as Madrasis, when they are nothing of the kind;
  • and the toxic element, the western UP and the eastern UP and Bihar elements.
Over all this ethnicity, there is a caste overlay.

Delhi can only be won by appealing to greed or to religion, similar impulses of irrationality. Now that the Congress has disappeared for all practical purposes, the AAP wins through greed, the BJP wins through religion. The BJP also has a monopoly of violence.

I did not look at any of the links that you've posted. I always laugh at your comments because I think they are delusional. In fact, you are exactly the type of poster that BJP IT wing will use to convince the center leaning moderates that left is made of naive dumbass people:laugh:
Very unfair and harsh. He deserves better.

With all due respect, the fallout in relationship with Pakistan is the least of India's problems that are brought about by Sangh's brainwashing. Many BJP voters believe both Putin and Biden take orders from Modiji :rofl:
Comrade Eleven being the one that got away.

Although @Wood can be cruel in his evaluations, he is on target in depicting the utterly dumb BJP voter. They are really cattle.

The far right is composed of irrational fools. The far left is composed of naive fools.

Don't get worked up because I laughed at your post. I did not read anything about the links that you pasted expect for the last line in your comment. It made me chuckle and therefore I put that reaction. My larger opinion of you are preconceived based on your opinions in this forum.
Come on, you can do better than this. Why have you got your knife into an individual?

I don't think much about what is said on the internet. I don't expect others to care for all the garbage I type on this virtual wall. For all I know, both Jamahir and you could be AI bots. You can also not be sure that I'm not one either :laugh:

What I've said is truly my opinion on the far left. Their opinions have a polarizing effect on the center leaning people from the other side. While such opinions have always existed, the web 2.0 revolution has given them an effective loud speaker; the echoes of which can be used by the far right as a recruiting tool.

PS: I'm against the political opinions of Jamahir handle. I've read enough of them in my time here to chuckle at most of them. I also believe that people's merit in society should be based on how they treat their fellow man. So I'm not the one to disregard people with such opinions with personal disrespect in real life.

Take no prisoners, eh?

I don't agree with his views either, not in the least. So what?:p:

That is what happens when privilege is 'provided' by those.who want power across decades. A reason why I am strictly against dynastic politics. No amount of self respecting Congress members can make.RG as PM as soon as mom died. As soon as RG died, they wanted SG as president and gave numerous issues to PVNR as PM. And now some requested Rahul to gain ministerial experience under MMS. But our family refused as he couldn't be seen working under another person.
In 2017, Prashant Kishor wanted Priyanka.to be UP CM face. It's easy to guess the party reaction back then.
Now they have no option
