What's new

Proposed new provinces for Pakistan, "need of the hour"?

except the teleagana! & tamil, assam & eastern border of india? they have no say! and kashmir is disputed so we won't discuss that!

Telangana is an issue about the creation of a new province.

...and trust me. People do not want that new province. It's a particular political parties. You should know. You have similar political parties in Pakistan.

With the creation of a new province the leader of the political party gets the chance to become the chief minister.

Tamilnadu and Assam? You're one of them Zaid Hamidians, aren't you?

Kashmir...ah! forget it.

thanks Pat, some more info , where did they do it was it in the entire country or some provinces ?

It's almost in the entire country and the process os still not over.

Some provinces are formed on the basis of ethnicity. Some are formed on the basis of administration.

Punjab and Haryana are examples of ethnicity based states.

Uttaranchal (formed from Uttar Pradesh) and Jharkhand (formed from Bihar) are examples of provinces formed for ease of administration.

.
no they are actually happy to make hazara a province! remember last year?? now every political party wants to play the province card to gain votes> and i respect MQM for once for not using same cheap tactics(even though their motives are different hence the silence)!!

Read the article meray bhai Choudhriz are opposing new provinces its an absolete nightmare for them. MQM dont need to do much they will have one automatically reason for the provinces is to reduce dominance of one and have equal share for all.

.
The 1973 Constitution is the only consensus document binding the federation. It neither recognises nor foresees the further division of Pakistan into more provinces.

So the constitution is not omniscient?? Anyway did the constitution foresee the 17th and 18th amendments? The author has simply constructed a very poor argument --- another poor argument is one that argues no new provinces on ethnic and linguistic basis, but if this is to be a guide why then allow, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and Pakhtunkhwa? After they are also ethnic and linguistic creations?

The most compelling reason for a greater number of provinces have to be better representation and more effective delivery of government services.

.
This is just a non-sense article. Creating smaller federal units on administrative grounds is the only way to address many problems.

.
dont you think its about linguist and racial differences , thats why every ethnicity demanding their own province?
Between i support the administritive idea

I really believe, even with Administrative PoV, it is bad to create a new province, since it will increase more load on government (because of new breed of corrupt politicians). I believe to desolve all province and create new system (may be nazim base) where parties are least involve will improve the culture and system. and they work under federal government (with more education/experience requirements other then vote)

Don't like the system where if 30 illiterate people out of 100 think Donkey is actually a horse, force everyone to think same.

.
smaller provinces will strengthen Pakistan. We Pakistanis are afraid of change, because everything is going wrong with us

.
India I feel is a good example in this regard - both for the good & bad.

A province is as good as it is governed. We have smaller states like Haryana who are doing well after breaking off from Punjab which then comprised of present day Punjab. Haryana & HP.

On the other hand there are smaller states like Chattisgarh & Jharkand who despite breaking off from larger states have not done well and remain where they were.

A truncated Bihar is now turning around under a dynamic Chief Minister.

All in , it does not matter how small or large a state is, its the caliber of the CM & his team which shall matter.

.
Perhaps im missing the point. If we have poor and currupt leaders then whats the point of new provinces? There will be more corruption?
We have to clear the core out first and then decide if and why we need more provinces. If it helps us manage our country better then great. If its to boost egos of individuals wanting to become "chamchays" then its a no no.

.
Division, division, and more division. Greed is their only god.

.
so its mean no new provinces i was dreaming to be governor on saraiki Provence lolz:lol:

@ NuclearPak

Dude this is what you think...you can't impose your will upon the people of hazara, pushtun belt of balochistan and saraeki belt of Punjab.

If the masses of those areas demand provinces based on linguistic and ethnic backgrounds, you have to give it to them, if not today then tomorrow...you can never impose your will upon the masses.

Yeah, and after that we can start distributing land based on clans and tribes within Pashtuns, Punjabis, Balouchis, and Sindhis. And slowly the country falls apart..
