Propaganda against Urdu

Check this latest ethnonationalist that wants to remove Urdu completely ...
stop please stop
Meduim of instruction is pashto in KP (for many schools, I don't know the legality of it but there are many schools where they cammunicate in Pashto among themselves) , they teach you Sindhi in Sindh
And everyone in those areas understand and can speak in Urdu

But when someone in Punjab demand something similar, it becomes associated with anti-nationalist movement

Which it's not, all of Pakistan except if you're really in middle of nowhere speak and understand Urdu, even if they're not taught in Urdu
Because of TV, music etc, urdu is part of mainstream, it'll always be and everyone respects that

When someone demands more recognition of local language - stop this propoganda of ethno-nationalism
It's unfair

We should have Sindhi, Punjabi, balochi meduim of instruction especially in rural areas to make it easy for kids to understand subject matter

While at the same Urdu just like Urdu he taught and our common language remains Urdu
Meaning our tv, music, Federal government all of it remains in Urdu

While at provincial level both regional and federal languages be used

But demanding it shouldn't make these organization anti-nationalist
It's not fair, nationality of someone doesn't depend on language

While 100% recognize importance of Urdu to our country and every kid must know urdu everywhere in Pakistan but at the same time mother language shouldn't be ignored

No one is saying stop speaking or learning Urdu, it's important
But local languages are easier to understand for regular people, and they should also have a place in the union

That's because linguistically of all Pakistani languages Urdu is the closest to Punjabi hence all Punjabis can speak Urdu without any major issues. There is a reason why Urdu was/is the language of Punjabi intellectuals and most of the great Urdu poets of the last century have been Punjabis.

The only difference between Urdu and Punjabi is verbs and when you see Punjabis protesting Urdu, it wreaks of something sinister.

Well that's not quite correct as the person I've quoted has clearly stated that they don't want urdu to be considered national language in the province. Can you not see the "sole language of the province" part? Is this not problematic ???

India does not have a unifying language which has caused them problems.

Has it caused problems for India? No. India recognizes 22 official languages. Though Hindi is the biggest in terms of number, the government never imposed a unifying language like it was done in Pakistan. Each state can impose its own language and has done so. If there's a language that unites India, ironically enough it's English.

Pakistan should have taken the same route and made all the languages that fell into Pakistan's official languages, including Bengali. It would have saved them a lot of headaches down the line. One could make the argument that since Pakistan is an Islamic state, that Arabic -- the language of the Koran -- be the sole "national" language.

I have noticed increasing propaganda against Urdu as the national language by a number of ethno nationalists +anti state liberal/secular/marxists. It seems targeted to try and reduce any factors that unite the country. If there is no national language then how do they expect everyone to communicate? India does not have a unifying language which has caused them problems. If one of the provincial languages were made national language that would cause issues for other ethnicities. Also after Arabic it is actually Urdu that the most Islamic work as been done.

What can be done to stop this propaganda. Thoughts?
Indians are b*tching about Urdu all the time.

@red thats incorrect, After Arabic the language which has the most Islamic work done is Farsi ( and its derivatives like Dari/Tajik). For centuries Farsi was the official language of all of the non-Arabs in Western Asia from Anatolia to the Mughal Empire and upto Central Asia and this was going on even before the Urdu language was formed. Infact Urdu itself borrows all of the non-Hindi words from Farsi and Arabic.

So after that history lesson, lets talk about Urdu and Propaganda against it. My personal opinion is that the Quaid should have selected Dari as the National language. This way we would have nothing in common with the country to our East and its as easy to learn for majority of us as Urdu. But the reason Quaid choose Urdu was that he wanted to have close relations with India just like US and Canada.

Now the 2nd option could have been Arabic and i am sure it would have been much more acceptable to majority of the people.

They should learn from Banglis treachery and classify criticizing National language URDU as attack on Unity, hate speech and a serious crime punishment-able similar to treachery.
Are you being sarcastic?

Bangladesh situation was different. You can’t compare East Pakistan to current situation in Pakistan. Everyone is proud of their mother tongue and Bengalis are also proud of their language which is given them great advantage over Pakistan. Even though Bangladesh has many dialects, Bengali, Silati, Chittagong, etc, they are United.

We are a multi-ethnic state and they want increased role of regional languages
I agree with them, Urdu is a common language but it doesn't mean we kill our own languages by not preserving and teaching our own languages at school
Yes Urdu should be taught but so should the regional languages atleast for some years in school
Like it is taught in some provinces but it should be a universal thing for all provinces

People need to stop associating language with nationality
Yes due to Mr.Jinnah we made it a common language but we should also focus on regional languages at the same time

In America 20% to 25% people have Irish/English/Scottish, Welsh ancestry, rest have different backgrounds but official language is English and second language is Spanish.

Mr. Jinnah was smart, he knew Urdu will United people.

Bangali is regional language just like another regional language in Indian Subcontinent. Quaid e Azam was clear and straight about the status of regional language to include Bangali, since this issue was brought up in his life time. Language issue is the weed, if not tackled properly can grew into tree of discontent.

All demands of Mujib were reasonable and can be worked out except language. You cannot force one regional language over the rest. Punjabi, Sindh or pushtuns weren’t asking special status or Bengali’s to learn their language.

I wish some of you could show the sane maturity to groups in Pakistan who want to elevate there local tongue nothing has come about it.
