Professor of Sindh university: why all other nationalities people are allowed to work&trade in Sindh

Honestly, we Punjabis do not do anything but get blamed even for droughts and bad weather in Sindh. As if all problems in Sindh are the fault of Punjabis and Urdu speakers...

Really, it is getting tiring. Some Pukhtoon politicians used to blame Punjabis too when ANP had more sway, but now Pukhtoons have changed immensely and own their own issues.

Urdu speakers built Karachi and gave us so much, we should be accepting of them.
The majority always has a higher bar to meet, which honestly, as a Pakistani Punjabi, I have no issues with.

The NFC award and the 18th Amendment have allocated significantly more resources and responsibilities to the provinces, which is why I continue to support it (with some minor adjustments in terms of increased revenue for the Federal government). The provinces have control over education, health, agriculture, police etc ... atleast this way, hopefully, the tendency to blame Punjab will die down, though parties like the PPP will continue to resort to it to hide their own failures (and of course entities like the PTM).

@Ace of Spades made a good point - it is the responsibility of every community to change this ‘blame the other’ narrative. KP under the PTI has changed it, just need to reinforce it by rejecting PTM again in the next elections.

Sindh is going to be harder because of the control the PPP has for various reasons - the PPP will continue blaming everyone and their forefathers for their own failures, and therefore continue to stoke animosity and xenophobia against other ethnic groups, Punjabi’s in particular.

Hi,

Listen to the locals what they are saying---.

Because if you are too critical of them---they will retaliate---.

It is their land---they have a right and first choice---. Same with Baluchistan---.
That’s what the White Right Wing Christians do in the US & Europe too - it’s xenophobic and discriminatory when it’s done in the US & Europe, it’s xenophobic and discriminatory when done in Pakistan.

If Pakistanis are not free to move around and live and work where they want in Pakistan, then why do we have a country called Pakistan?

The problem is not with people moving to different provinces to live and work - the problem is with the attitudes that resent those more successful than them just because they speak a different language.

Work hard. Make your provincial government provide more resources and better educational and training opportunities to the locals. Weaken the hold of the wadera’s. Stop blaming others for your own failures.

Hi,

That was when there was one unit---now there are provinces---.

Then we have different languages---and that is troublesome---.

And the US has States, even the EU allows more open migration between countries than what you’re suggesting should occur.

We are one country - the issue is with the political parties that have kept Sindhis oppressed and suppressed, like the PPP.

I am really surprised to hear an immigrant to the US basically support the same kind xenophobic and anti-immigrant rhetoric, spouted by the right wing there, in Pakistan.

Pakistani doctors on twitter have IQ level that is in minuses. Sometimes, it worries me to gulp it down the fact, they treat patients.

well thankfully there is no such thing as accountability so this josef mengele can continue inflicting heinous experiments on children of Thar and then blame dogs and snakes for it

A couple of things, besides her bad memory and racist rant

Sind used to be a barren land it was cultivated (turned in to green fields) by Punjabi farmers (known are Abadagar)
No ethnicity owns any province or city, anyone can go, visit, settle, and do business in any part of Pakistan
Other ethnicities working, thriving and being successful in Sind is reflective of lazyness of local populace

This just shows how much Sindhis are angry at the demographic change in cities like Karachi and Hyderabad as result of uncontrolled immigration since 1947. I can understand her frustration but she is blaming the wrong people. However her use of "nationalities" doesn't make any sense, maybe she is talking about ethnicities and doesn't know that nationality is referred to the citizens of a sovereign state.

YOu are putting it the other way round, land does not belong to anyone except Allah, it's people who belong to land. Land has the right on people who are born there to live and work for its betterment, not that people have a right even if they are lazy sloths or dacoits

Hi,

I have lived in interior Sindh and these Sindhis are not wrong in what they are saying---.

At first it the urdu speakers that had all the top jobs in karachi / hyderabad---then came the punjabis---but most of them settled and cultivated land---then came the pashtuns and then came the afghans---.

The sindhis are being crushed for a longtime---nice folks that they are---.

Sometimes I really salute the restraint of Sindhis for what the successive governments have done with the demography of Sindh, they must be one of the most tolerant people in the world that two of their biggest cities have got non-sindhi majorities since 1947.

And they themsekves used to look down on people who owned factories and had jobs, as according to them owning land is everything. The immigrants that came, populated the city because the Sindhis didnt want to do that. Sindhis were nowhere to be seen pre partition either. It was the hindus, parsis and goans who populated it back then. Stop spreading bs just because you hate one particular ethnicity.

No most are local. And bahut sa tribes Punjab and Sindh main same Hain. Like bhutta in Punjab bhutto in Sindh. Chandia in Punjab chandio in Sindh. Khosa in Punjab khoso in Sindh etc
So no locals, only migrants from Punjab and Balochistan. They themselves are outsiders and just adopted the language and now look down upon others.
