Professionals’ corner, personal experience series

The fear of offence/aggression keeps most people peaceful, that's exactly why the police service got started.

I understand where you are coming from, but it is important to keep in mind the far greater value of peace in these inflamed times, hence my post. Thank you for indulging me on this.

Sounds like you got your advice in the US.

Using a shotgun indoors is not very pleasant on your ears especially if you have a family and kids at home, but it is the best HD weapon as you have more chances of hitting the intruder and if you get him COM, he is not walking out on his legs.

Deciding between the purchase of a G45 vs G19x but when talking to the range instructor gave him my use case of home defense and not necessarily constant carry so was recommended a mossberg.
Because the spray of a shotgun may be better when you’re moving around in the dark trying to get situational awareness at 3am against an intruder while avoiding wall penetration against those who may be in other rooms.
The danger of it being needing to be extra cautious on making sure no unintended targets are in the area

Lesson being is know your use case before deciding on a tool.

Sir, if you've experience then yes it's fine but for most users I think a latch is better for most users which locks the trigger. The Glocks we've had lack that latch lock mechanism which makes them very accidents prone especially with novice users.

AR is a beautiful weapon.
I hear a lot of people say that about Glocks. Been carrying on duty and off duty. No issues. You are right, training and trigger discipline are important.

Actually Glocks are pretty secure guns, they won't fire unless you pull the trigger. But the problem with most novice Pakistani users is the first thing they do while holding a gun is what no one should ever do unless they intend to shoot the gun, and that is putting their finger on the trigger.

Having said that, I am not a big fan of striker-fired handguns, as a personal choice, I only own handguns with external hammers.

Very thought provoking. I've had similar experience with acquaintances when it came to reviewing their weapon choice. A great irk that I have is with the fetish of Glocks. In my opinion the gun is unsafe for most causal users because of its lack of the safety latch. I think each person should review guns and practice with a few before getting one.

I remember my first day at the firing range in PMA' 85.

The SM started his briefing by " Sab, dushman samnay ha aur app ka pass yehey aik weapon ha" (G-3).
That day onwards, it was always the "Dushman" infront of me and not the target.
Army SMs are the real breed of Jawans who train the Army, officers & jawans.

Over the years, fired many weapons, but it was always on the Dushman..

They ranged the G-3, MG-1, Walther 9 mm, MP-5, AK-47, 12.7 mm, 14.5 mm, 25 mm, 35 mm, 4,5 Inch, Phalanx to the AM-39. These were the service weapons. Private weapons are alot.

apart from the higher calibre AA guns, MG 1A3 was alot of fun and always is.

The best weapon I consider for a
longer range is the G-3, and
shorter range is MP 5.
CC is a 9mm.(Glock, Walther or CZ).

Glock has inbuilt safety features and is one of the safest guns (in my humble opinion)

Novice users can play hovoc with any weapon......though i've fired lot may pistols, but my sidearm for the last eight years till now is Zigana....semi and auto both, fired more than 4000 rounds till now....works smoothly.....two 15-round mags, one 30-round mag.
Which ZiganaK or F model....

Sir, the drill staff is another experience I want to share. Very fond memories

Shotguns are good for open spaces like in villages as there is less chance of injuring others as compared in the city....The sound of a shotgun is beneficial in scarring the bad guys away...within a city its best to go for a handgun with hollow points....

Yes, but not this one. The other one is Sarsilmaz B6.
the standard side arm in army these days is Sarsilmaz B6, correct me if I am wrong please and it was made by POF...Did the PA ever use Glocks? as Musharraf wrote in his book that Glock-17 was his favorite...
