She says the government will do everything necessary to modernise the film industry

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged filmmakers to produce quality films upholding the glorious history and spirit of the Liberation War before the future generations in order to counter distorted history.

"The history of our Liberation War was distorted after the killing of the Father of the Nation on August 15, 1975. So, I’d like to request you to uphold the history before everyone that we’re the victorious nation. We snatched victory through the Liberation War. We need to make more such films so that the future generation can know about the history of our victory," she said.

Prime Minister Hasina was addressing the distribution ceremony of the National Film Awards-2019 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). She joined the function virtually from her official residence Ganobhaban.

The awards were conferred upon 33 recipients under 26 categories. On the Prime Minister’s behalf, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud handed over the awards and certificates.

Sheikh Hasina stressed the need for reflection of the great achievements, history, ideology and spirit of the Liberation War in films, which she noted, can be etched in the people’s hearts through a movie or drama.

“They have great appeal," she said.

Modernising film industry
The Prime Minister said the government would do everything necessary to modernise the film industry.

"We're forming a fund to develop infrastructures up to the upazila level so that films can be screened properly there and people can get a scope of recreation," she said.

Sheikh Hasina said a fund of Tk 1,000 crore would be set up.

“Cinema halls or cineplexes can be constructed taking loans at low interest from the fund," she said.

She called upon the filmmakers to produce films that can be enjoyed together with family. Sheikh Hasina said the good days of the cinema have come again in the world as the people are now watching films staying at their houses.

But films have to attract audience to the cinema halls as well, she said.

Noting that many cinema halls were closed, she said the government is paying special attention to not only reopen them but also to modernise them.

Sheikh Hasina said the government will put importance on the use of modern technology in the film industry to keep the pace of the digital age.

The Prime Minister said the government is giving importance to the enhancement of training facilities for the film artists so that they can produce quality films.

Karwan Bazar wholesale market to be relocated

Talking about her government's different activities to develop the film industry, the Prime Minister said they formulated the Society Registration Act 2011, the National Film Policy 2017, the Joint-Venture Film Policy 2017 and the Bangladesh Film Artists' Welfare Trust Act 2020, as well as for film production with the government's donation.

She said the government formed the Bangladesh Film Artists' Welfare Trust for the wellbeing of everyone involved in the films with the money from the trust.

Noting that the implementation of a project to develop the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation has already been started, she said the government will remove the wholesale market from Karwan Bazar to different places and enhance the beauty of the FDC area further, which is located nearby the beautiful Hatijheel.

"No Dorai" and "Fagun Haway" win Best Film award

"The history of our Liberation War was distorted after the killing of the Father of the Nation
The only thing that is DISTORTED is herself, for how long she is going to chase the ghosts of the past. Pakistan and Bangladesh are brothers, mistakes have been made by both, it's time to move on.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged filmmakers to produce quality films upholding the glorious history and spirit of the Liberation War before the future generations in order to counter distorted history.
Hasina is the only person who systematically destroyed the history of Bangladesh Liberation War. For her, there was only one person who liberated this land while sleeping in the Layalpur jail in west Pakistan.

Maulana Bhasani, Tajuddin, General Osmani, Major Ziaur Rahman and other Sector Commanders, and many thousand Freedom Fighters and others did not contribute but it was only her IA troops guided by her father who contributed.

Hasina is a real stupid son of a bitch talking about writing the real history.

She must take help from 'Dead Reckoning ' by Sharmila Chandra Bose; if she is reallly serious....... A neutral account by all standards

Perhaps, she hates Sharmila for writing the genuine truth based on facts. Every one knows the total killing did not exceed 30,000 including Razakars and Biharis.

BAL extraordinary claims make our people too cheap without a sense of drawing respect from others. Vietnam commands respect, but not Bangladesh. If one mass grave contains 100 dead bodies in average, the country must have 30,000 mass graves to raise the figure to 3 million.

Can this BAL and its PDF brats show at least one mass grave containing 100 bodies? No wonder, some Pakistanis say, 100 Bengalis are killed in one bullet. One being hit by the bullet and the other 99 by the sound of firing.

AS a nation, we are very shameless people.

Okay but why it's not more than 30000 ? It could be less than 10000 or more than 1 lakh or at peak 3 lakh as it's a popular figure.

Besides I read dead reckoning , and as far I can remember, Sharmila Bose wrote the number as 50000 to 1 lakh.

But why Pakistani official figure is gospel for you like Bangladesh govt figure is gospel for chetona khors ?

Don't be upset . It's exaggeration every one knows this . I myself know many freedom fighters in my life , but never ever heard of any shohid Mukti zoddha or anyone died in freedom fight , but that necessarily doesn't mean that none died in our freedom war.

Surprisingly I know two razakars who were killed after freedom fight , although not for joining razakar forces but we're murdered for personal enmity.

So 3 million is a hoax (30 thousand is also another hoax ) and everyone knows is even sheikh Hasina herself knows it .

It can be any figure not 30,000 and not 3,000,000. So, it was the duty of the govt to compile the data. Being village man people at the top, the govt did not pursue it honestly. When Mujib started to compile, his people could not find many many thousands. So, Mujib govt stopped counting.

But, why are you fussing about 30,000? It is an approximate figure. Stay honest and ask yourself how many from you own family died in 1971 and also tell us the reasons for their deaths. Was it natural or by bullet?

3 million out of 70 million in 7 months, which is 4.2% of the then population? Only the shameless and coward Muslim Bengali people can be killed that way. A 150 full stadium can contain less than 3 million people.

What a fantasy!!!! The Hasina claim broke all the past and also future world records.

I already answered it ! You should not jump so fast before reading someone's full message , come on!

But in dead reckoning Sharmila Bose put all blame to Bengalis and tried to portray Niazi and his gang members as angels!

Only one time she was compelled to criticize her heroes . Yes the time when Pakistani brave army (!?) stared massacre on civilians at the middle of the night in order to prove that they are the most heroic army on the planet ! Even Sharmila Bose was ashamed because of that show of bravery from her hero Pakistan army!

I just said we all should discuss from neutral perspective .

But yes in one point I must agree with you and that is the song of Hasina related to 1971 is becoming boring day by day . Even I myself is frustrated because she really no longer needs to play the broken record when she is ruling from last 12 years .

Now even as political rhetoric the concept became obsolete!

Lol...

Man , if only that 3 million figure was real.

I am sad that as a Pakistani , we as a nation always do things half heartedly and leave them at mid way... Not inflicting severe punishment' on these traitor bengalis lead to future internal problems post 1971 and constant embarrassment ad infinatum...

They should have been made a symbol of severe retribution so that other natives would have gotten a good lesson about state loyalty. Pakistan wouldn't have been in this mess had we won or at least inflicted heavy damaged to these traitors.

Even India was/is better than us in this regard...Look how they brutally crushed every single uprising in their own country and preserved its territorial integrity.

Neither Pakistan created enough internal turmoil in future state of Bangladesh nor it sincerely pursued Khalitan project... Shame

.
Government of Bangladesh should fund this alone. Private accounts always differ from government records and hence it would be best if Bangladeshi government does it.
