It has always puzzled me why America's allies (other than Japan and SK, for obvious reasons) have not made more efforts to cooperate with each other independent of the US, and instead always seem to cooperate through the US. Japan-Israel, Canada-Australia, Germany-Japan, France-SK, etc. The possibilities seem endless, but they are only beginning to be realized now. I wish all the best to Japan and Israel in developing their economic and defense bonds, and see it (and Japan-Australia) as an example of hopefully several more to come. Only in that way will the Western/liberal democratic framework be secured for decades to come as America's relative strength wanes.

You know what is also interesting ? The fact that there is a large Israeli tourist flow into Japan every year, its only recently that more and more Japanese are traveling and visiting Israel. Despite the risks, I hope to see more tourism to Israel and increasing the cultural sharing between the people of Israel and the people of Japan.

On a personal note, I had the experience before (many years ago) to visit the Chabad Lubovitch center in Tokyo as I was curious to see what it was all about. True to the word, I have never met such kind and encouraging people. My impression on Jewish people have been based on my very good experience with them in Tokyo. I cannot understand the anti-semitic articles always being published about Israel and Israelis, heck even on the Jewish adherents around the world.

Anyways, I wish , someday, to visit Israel. And the rest of the Holy Land.
