PRESS FREEDOM INDEX 2011-2012

. .
Dear Freezing there is no secret:
there are provided these two documents for notation:
http://en.rsf.org/IMG/pdf/criteria_for_compiling_the_2011-2012_press_freedom_index.pdf
http://en.rsf.org/IMG/pdf/bare_me_2011-2012_gb-2.pdf

about USA they fall sown in ranking because of the protests as explained in the document

unscientific and qualitative. their methodology for relative weighting is still secret. China had 27 journalists imprisoned but 0 killed last year, which, when corrected for by population, is far safer than most other countries. Thus the relative weighing of subjective measures like "self censorship" is very high.

BAROMÈTRE DE LA LIBERTÉ DE LA PRESSE 2011 - Reporters sans frontières
I agree to that point that it should be relative to the population and you're right we don't know about if they do it or not
China : 30 - 0 dead
Iran : 26 - 2 dead
but the rank puts the countries near... this is a non sense.
Ok you got a point.

Robert Ménard is exagerately anti China here , that's why people don't like him much here ;)

The RSF was started as an organisation to campaign against Cuba and was later extended to campaign against anyone who is against the US regime. Robert Ménard is just a tool of the CIA.

Right...So that mean if a bus load of Western journalists crashed on an icy road in the US, or in Britain, or in France, or in Spain, it mean the West is far more life threatening to journalists than China.

.
we just let our mullahs talk, we dont let them come to power. You know Bangladesh is a democracy and people can voice their opinions, unlike India.

Really? What voices of yours and other Bangladeshis are heard? Isnt it that you guys always whine about how AL cheated into power, Awami Indian stooges etc etc etc.... And also unlike yours super duper democracy, our crappy one doesn't allow military to stage coups and actually take control of the nation, as has been the history among India's neighbours.

So freedom of speech is determined by how many journalists are killed in a country :woot:
What kind of logic is that?
And even you guys know deep down your hearts how much free China is :D

according to the logic of US supporters in China:

they would have died due to the political policies of the US. The road was not deiced because US government took the money and spent it on 1 million dollar vacations and 5000 dollar gold plated toilets at the Pentagon.

yep China is far more free than India.

.
Turkey is most free, there are no journalist/intellectuals left all of them behind bars.. thanks to Mr Erdogans ''advanced'' democracy.

Not going to try to decipher the above crap.

Iran, China drive prison tally to 14-year high - Reports - Committee to Protect Journalists
Iran and China, with 34 imprisoned journalists apiece, are the world’s worst jailers of the press, together constituting nearly half of the worldwide total.
A few dozens imprisoned to scare thousands into either silence or sheeplike compliance.
