*** President Trump Attacks Germany, Japan, and China on Currency ***

Americans are blaming others for their own mistakes
@long_
Why am I not surprised. After ruining Afghanistan and pumping $4 billion into the mouths of the mujahideen who later became Taliban they blame Pakistan for the mess while without their support Pakistan would not even have dared to fight the Soviets. They pulled us into their wars when we were needed. They invaded Vietnam for no obvious reason. The Americans are used to blaming others. When it was not immigrants it was the Chinese, before that the Vietnamese and Koreans.

Trump accuses trio of devaluing currencies to harm US firms and consumers
Harm uncompetitive firms, yes, but harm consumers, I don't think so.

Trump, trade adviser slam Germany, Japan and China on trade/currencies
This is not exactly new. Their Treasury Department has already singled out six countries for special monitoring in a twice-yearly report submitted to Congress in last October, now the new administration is only making noise on the bigger three. The other three are Taiwan, South Korea and Switzerland.

These six countries score massive surpluses through exporting industrial produce (incl capital goods, industrial components, processed materials) not only with US but with rest of the world, hence I don't think currency exchange rate is the primary factor.
