Considering India is already working on a 5th generation fighter, I'd assume so should Pakistan. Maybe they should look to China on developing something similar to the F-35.

Nothing is on the plate as of yet, J-20 will take some time to move from the prototype stage to production stage, PAf can't/won't afford F-35 given the present relation with US.

Considering the fact that Anti-Stealth tech is around the corner,.. the heavy Cost of 5th genration jets may not be a very wise option at this stage where Pak is having deep financial crisis....

I always say there is no such a thing as stealth. Stealth for maybe a decade max before someone figures out how to counter it and then it becomes obsolete tech by then.

Sorry to disappoint you, but PAF is not just waiting. It has already started the ground work for its 5th gen fighter requirements and that would be the Chinese.

PAF has now started a pre-active approach and has started to be upgraded with the latest available on the market and thanks to the Chinese, we will be getting the best from them with our requirements met.

JF-17s, J-10s & the 5th Gen single engine fighter are good examples of this approach.

So, hopefully by the end of this decade, we would be having our 5th Gen fighter in service too.

With J-20 development, it would be not a hard thing to make a 5th gen fighter, as lot of technologies developed for J-20 can be used / modified for use for any other 5th gen fighter.

J-20 is the heavy end 5th gen fighter, while we are gonna see the single engine variant of the 5th Gen fighter in 2-3 years time period.
