If Indians are so great in invention then why haven't they become on par with U.S, Russia, or at least with China decades ago? Why are Indians still one of the leaders in the world in defence imports?

Chill. Everyone steals technology. Accept the fact.... The U.S got its Nukes, stealth technology, missile technology, and submarine technology from the Germans. The Russians stole Nuke technology from U.S. These are superpower countries that do these types of things. Bottom line is, not everyone is an Einstein in this world.

Anyway, back to the THREAD TOPIC:

If the government expects the military to fight 2 atomic nations at once it might want to do the following:

1. Create a chief of defense staff to bring a unified command to the forces

2. Identify all major arms purchases necessary, hold tenders, pick winners, and build the equipment in India with TOT

3. End no fist use policy

4. Allow any and all Indians to live wherever they want in the country (Kashmir, northeast, etc.)

5. Speed up infrastructure development in the border areas.

+99999 This is one of the most urgent thing the govt can do, half of the logistic and otherwise bureaucratic bullshit and ego will be avoided

2. Identify all major arms purchases necessary, hold tenders, pick winners, and build the equipment in India with TOT
3. End no fist use policy

Ending first use policy will not be so appropriate, it would lead to unnecessary complications and then again, if we abandon the NFU then why fight a two-front war?

4. Allow any and all Indians to live wherever they want in the country (Kashmir, northeast, etc.)

5. Speed up infrastructure development in the border areas.

Yup, these need to be done ASAP..
