Parts of Kashmir have been experiencing heavy to very heavy snowfall for days now, effectively cutting off many areas from the rest of the country.

With more snow predicted in the coming day, locals are finding it difficult to survive. Adding to their misery is the frequent avalanches and snowfalls which have blocked many key roads.

According to reports, nearly a dozen people including five cops have been killed in snowfall related incidents.

The Indian Army which has been leading the efforts to assist those in need came to the aid of a pregnant woman in Bandipora district.

On Friday, the army camp received a call from a villager seeking help for evacuating his pregnant wife Gulshan Begum to hospital.

Because of snowfall, many regions in Jammu and Kashmir are disconnected. Roads are inaccessible. This is not a regular condition in the region where army carry sick people like that, only due to heavy snow such a situation arises where ambulance cannot transport the lady.

As for local assistance in birth, I think the family decided against it, and hence called for help, probably she was in a great deal of pain.

2 new freedom fighters for Kashmir
Nope, two more doctors, Engineers, Civil service official, businessman, etc... the silent majority of Jammu and Kashmir.
