Praveen Togadia VHP President- "Law for having only two children should be framed"

Thanks for acknowledging my views. Well u got my point. At the same time,I agree with you that population should be kept in touch & people should have as many kids as they can afford. Of the current generation in Mumbai,I haven't come any family having 3 kids at least in Mumbai.Late marriages r nowadays a common thing. About me,I got married at 30,at 33, I became a father. What I am seeing,it is becoming very difficult to get admission in goods school despite ready to pay hefty donation.

Sir please dont imagine your children will not be educated or not became a money making machine if not admitted in a particular school. There are good govt schools too. Most of sucessful indians are from ordinary schools.Big schools are only status symbol for rich businessman family , I dont belive they are the best and only options for education.

I support this idea. 2 kids is the way to go forward. it is just equal to the replenishment rate. So population stays relatively constant and there is enough available young workers as well. Good idea from the Doctor.

Laws can't be formulated for a community in India. This is not a place for Objective Resolutions.

A China like policy restricting children to two will do great for us. After having two kids there must be either sterilization or a bond must be signed that future children will be adopted by the State. Of course this will affect almost ONLY the Muslims(all minorities have 1 or 2) but that should be irrelevant.

Did you even bother to read the content or just the mention of the name brought out the innate intolerance within you?

This isn't a question of Praveen Togadia or his retarded statements. It is a question of the culumative 40 year experience that India has had in population reduction. The experience is the most important asset we have in taclking this problem, not what some retarded Sanghi thinks coz he thinks only about the ideology he promotes.
-India cannot have a law that restricts birth to 2 coz it is a democracy. The only time when such a solution was used was under the emergency when forced sterilization was done, and we know how that backfired
- Under democratic governments you cannot enforce any such law. If a 3rd child was born what will you do? Throw the couple into prison? Good luck with that coz it's against fundamental rights. 'Right to breed' cannot be suspended
- The following were the things we did and learnt in over the decades-
a) give out free condoms- limited/ negligible results
b) pay money for becoming sterilized (usually after 2 children were born)- limited/ negligible results
c) Integrated Health Care in urban and rural areas- provide health workers, maternity care, nutrition for mothers, vaccination and long term support- spectacular results
d) economic development in areas with point c- even more spectacular results

People don't just 'breed', they have many children because of 2 reasons- some of them die of diseases, so they want 'backup' kids. This is controlled when good health services are given. Second, more sons means more income- when opportunities increase, that gets taken care of.

It is highly unadvisable to bring in that law anyway, because TFR has been dropping and latest reports are the pop will stabilize by 2020. Additional, some of the biggest gains in recent times has been among muslims- the number of muslim girls going to schools, for instance has been increasing very well.

Now tell me, which of the above points did Togadia take into account when he made that statement? He just said 'muslims breed, so let's stop them', frothing at his mouth.

I do not think statements of Sakshi Maharaj make any difference. How many will go for 4-5 children because someone says so. Even among Muslims (at least middle class, urban educated) I see only 1 or 2 kids just like hindus. So, I do not know how far this fear that one day Muslims will overtake hindus or their population will grow faster than hindus etc is true.

Maybe muslim fertility rate is slightly more which I believe is not a cause for such a great concern and with passage of time and progress will be normalized.

Now, all these hindutvavadis are interested is - is in making big controversial statements every other day. why they do not understand that when there is too much unrest in the society and all the attention of the Govt and People diverted towards these petty issues - it creates a perfect opportunity for terrorists to strike.

Indians should strictly follow one child policy. And return to BD; WB and NE.

To some extent I agree with you,due to limited schools & colleges it is becoming very difficult to get admission in Mumbai. I could not imagine when students getting more then 85% marks in 10th Standard(ssc) r struggling to get admission in colleges. I went to a English convent school where most of the students came from middle class families while "Big schools are only status symbol for rich businessman family, I dont belive they are the best and only options for education". Here I would like a point out,In Big schools the quality of education is also good. When u able to pay a few lakhs as school fees,u will be expecting something

For media, any thing said by a Hindu is communal rant now. I have stopped taking media's whining seriously. It's more of a comedy show than anything else.
