Practical Solution - The 7100 MW Bunji Dam (cleared by CDWP)

Pakistan is caught in between rock and a hard place. Can't develop KAlabagh dam for which multilateral donor can be arranged but there is venomous local opposition, esp. ANP, and other dams are in Gilgit Baltistan [Part of Pak-held Kashmir] which India opposes and no donor wants to finance.
Pakistan needs dams immediately as everything, its economy, agriculture depends on its water security. Too much is wasted into the sea
Bunji Dam ia in Gilgit Baltistan, so doubt any multilateral organization like World Bank would finance it, due to opposition from India.

China already offered to develop the indus river cascade and it was agreed in the JCC meeting when all of a sudden WAPDA chairman withdrew diamer bhasha dam from the cpec arrangement which China readily agreed to finance, on some financing issues and leveling charges of sovereignty against China, a charge they angrily denied and quietly withdrew from there pledge for the rest. Indian and western media, used this to cast aspersions that cpec is a way to overtake other countries primary assets.
Pakistan can build this but firstly we need to avoid IMF, which will never let this happen, do something about the roadblocks like WAPDA's babus and local politicians. It was IMF programs that made economic plans of govt.s like PPP to cut PSDP in the 90s, thats the first thing they'll do. PAkistani public will stand with anyone who builds dams and China will finance it.
its not stuck....why do you need donars....did u need donars for metro projects ...
cost if bhahsa.was just 550 billion rupees, wapda asked for just 5% of psdp(50billion rs/yr) but govt refused

.
if china work then ok else forget
China was ready to include it in CPEC but wanted to acquire ownership of the dam but Pakistan govt didn't agree on the terms.

what was your point, nothing new here..
bhasha dam won approval 12x in CDWP 2008, its just a poltical move to keep people happy..its not going to be built by PPPP or PML N

same is true for momand dam..it has been cleared half a dzoen times too since detail study design was completed in 2010

.
It is not a dam , actually Bunji is run of the river project to make electricity . It will be more beneficial if we complete Bhasha Dam before Bunji so water supply can be grantee 24/7 whole year.
Water Dams are Kalabagh , Bhasha , Akhori , Dasu , Shyok and Kurram Tangi Dams........... These 6 dams will provide "water" which we need the most and "electricity" too.
Chinot Dam is only dam site available on River Chanab , Build it , Yes we may lose agricultural land , but we can store what ever water left in That River , because India already build a dam and stopped all the water , but in rainy session water will come and we can store that.

Land acquired and funds allocated for construction , is it not new ?

nope, land acqusition was started for bhahsah dam in 2008, govt refused to release funds so it continued to drag on till now

munda dam, funds were never released, an EU/WAPDA funding plan was scrapped, at that time the dam cost was 800 million dollars, EU was suppose to provide 300 million dollars rest would come from WAPDA/PSDP but PML N govt came inpower and scarpped the plan immediately, instead built some portion of Islamabad metro with it

now it has no funds for it..

remeber the sudden approval and release funds this year is govt cheating and using next govt funds to do it, as soon as PM LN is relected it will divert the funds to fund metro and spending in its voting area of northern punjab(where PMLN won 95 out of 103 seats), if not re elected it will claim it started those dams

7,000 MW energy output looks fantastic , Terbella has/had a 5,000 MW capacity so looks like a magnificent additional Project.
Judging from the capacity of Electricity looks like tremendously beneficial Project

a) Saves up Water
b) Lot of Energy Production

Terbella Dam
Total capacity13.69 km3 (11,100,000 acre⋅ft)

Installed capacity4,888 MW
6,298 MW (max)

Bunji Dam

k

Looks like a Magnificent Project

It will be built but not before you and I both have grey and/or no hair :D
Seems both are in full swing finally when the bottleneck PMLN/PTI were removed

Bunji is run of run project its max capacity is 7000 but generation is still 20b units

Pakistan needs to focus on solar hydro pump facilities at tarbela/ghazi etx ..a big potential

Is there any movement with this project

Electricity generation is not the only purpose of dams. They are made for water storage and flood mitigation purposes as well.

Road tunnel on Jaglot-skardu road is part of bunji dam project. It will reduce the distance by approx 50 KMs.
