Obviously, the nationalization shattered the investors' confidence in Pakistan's economy, we never really recovered from that. What should have happened was that the govt exerted a limited amount of control on the economy, and should have made the industrial families invest in other ventures.While our politicians were busy "Nationalizing" the growing and progressing industries people where focusing on getting there rich private citizens involved in the development process.
Should have went the South Korean way, where they pressured family controlled businesses into diversifying and pursuing modernization, and now those businesses are economical giants. This should have been done here as well, with the Habib group, Dawood group etc. but the still very much alive Bhutto destroyed their thriving businesses(and many others for that matter).
