PPP's Sanaullah wins Upper Dir by-poll
ALI AKBAR — UPDATED 8 MINUTES AGO
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party candidate, Sanaullah, won the by-election for provincial assembly seat PK-93, Wari, Upper Dir-III according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

PPP had formed an alliance with the Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), while the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) had announced support for the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) candidate.

According to unofficial results from the constituency’s 120 polling stations, PPP’s Sanaullah managed to secure 21,850, while JI’s Azam Khan bagged 16,120 votes. Voter turnout was approximately 34 per cent.

The seat had fallen vacant after disqualification of JI MPA Malik Behram Khan in a fake degree case. PML-N, ANP and JUI-F had withdrawn their candidates in favour of PPP's candidate Sanaullah.

The PK-93 seat has always been the stronghold of JI as its candidates had always won elections here, but political observers expected a tough competition this time around.

The JI campaign was badly affected when the election commission recently imposed bans on provincial ministers, MPAs and MNAs to run campaigns for any of the candidates, while there were also reports of some PTI officials supporting the PPP due to internal rifts.

Last week, Dawn reported that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said had said women would be facilitated to use their constitutional right to vote in the by-election in PK-93, Wari, Upper Dir-III.

isnt PPPP supposed to be dead and buried ? How come they are winning ?

. .
Because PTI Is failing to deliver on promises.

If PPP is able to benefit from anti-incumbency of PTI's rule, I think people should wait for sometime before writing obituaries of PPP. It may be sick right now, but not beyond redemption.

A few seats here and there are expect, especially if they get backing from other parties. PPP isn't dead, but it will not recover for a long LONG time. They're expect to come third in the next elections.

its not about pti failing .. in upper dir personality matters more than party .. rite now timber mafia is total against current government their billions of rupee illegal business is on hold due to strick actions against the mafia . and btw dir district is Jamat e islami's main vote bank area in KPK not PTI .

Agreed

But the main reason is PPP's fantastic governance in Sindh. They have delivered beyond expectations, all of public's problems have been solved in Sindh. This is why the people of Upper Dir voted for PPP.

PPP was backed by multi party. We have seen how parties won local elections. If they unite, they can be threat to PTI.

Why did bilour win NA1 after being defeated by Imran initially?

In Canada we have elections. Harper has done great job, but people want to see him gone just for the sake of it.

Timber mafia is run by powerful who make people vote for their likes.

Shortcomings of PTI has made people think it's a party not worth dying for.

PTI can win every single part of Pakistan is they achieve what they set out. But if it does not, people will feel fear and continue to vote wrong people.

Failings of PTI does not mean success of PPP. Further, just because PPP is bad doesn't mean it's nominee is bad. Many PTI followers would not be voting for Aleem khan (whoever it was). PTI is party they follow, but not the man.

Its not that they are winning, its that people hate the fact that IK's tried to screw the entire country and 200 million people without any agenda, experience and with just sheer stupidity. Expect IK to become less and less relevant in politics. He'll be becoming an individual with 20000 followers who are ready to do sit-ins anytime as they have nothing else to do, no work (or need to work due to rich dads). In the beginning the military had some soft corners for him but now, they are like, WTF IK? Too much drama like he's turning 14 and learning to deal with the world

This proves Pakistanis do not deserve democracy. Military dictatorship please thanks.

Do you, IK or your other cousins from the little mob who follow it, EVER take responsibility for everything? IK lost everywhere, it was rigging, he caused billions of damage and embarrassment to the country and attacked the Parliament, all that was "legal demands" which the legal system calls treason. He maries a British girl and gives her the same protocol as a Federal Minister, and you guys say its her right (when bitching about the protocol of the real PM in Pakistan), the list goes on and on. And now here, the lost election has nothing to do with IK's failure to do something for the people of KPK. But its the "mafia" who didn't vote for him :omghaha: :nana: :haha: :sarcastic: :nono:

There would be a time soon when all the lying in the world on every topic would've been done by you and your friends. What else would you do when you'd have already lied about everything out there??? Take responsibility, push your IK and others to take responsibility and DO something from where you were elected. Otherwise, you'll bring back NS with whatever seats you might have won next time.

Here's the competition the way it looks like: NS's party with a serious list of critical work done for the country AGAINST few thousands bullshiiters who lied to the entire nation, who'se leader didn't do jack shiit from where he was elected from. And the leader didn't do anything productive either. Instead, he accused EVERY single institution, all other parties, attacked the Parliament, didn't produce a dollar worth of Candy for his voters and all. So its like:

Next elections = ALL work VS. All Talk!! Guess who'd win? Money talks ($ 20 billion in Pakistan's bank account, first time ever, just one example) and Bullshiit walks (IK + sit-ins + no work done for people / voters + violent politics that the country is tired of)
