Spending on signal free roads and effective mass transit system in mega cities now is much cheaper and better than doing it when they becomes hell holes. IK and company who says that cities like Lahore doesn't need mass transit and signal free roads are either idiots or shameless and mean of highest level that they can go down to any level for petty politics. Ask people of Karachi, what cost they are paying for not building road infrastructure and mass transit on time? What IK want? People of Lahore should also meet same fate?

My only concern about these metros are subsidies. Khadam-e-Ala should make these projects self sustained. And yes, other sectors should also get due attentions and funds.

Yup, this surprises me every day. A nation's own political parties don't want it to modernize!!!! Isn't PPP's previous ambassador to the US, currently participating in lobbying against Pakistan so Pakistan won't get the new -16's? Speaks volumes for people's loyalty to their own country . Try to find an Indian like this, just won't happen!! Not sure why the Pakistanis have to be against their own country!

On the bold part, of course they won't do anything. People who talk and criticize aren't leaders, they are called the "critics". And they are unable to do anything in real life for their nation. They can just criticize. About 80% of the time, you hear IK or others rationale behind their stupid criticism on almost every forum, anyone with some sane head would wonder how little and narrow their mind is, and how whatever they are bit*ching about at any given time, has real relevance to the country, outside of stirring a few thousand "disturbed" people's heads!! Very sad. Judging by progress and performance is still a new concept in Pakistan!!

The problem is, nobody believes in the authenticity of these projects for human development because the announcement and funding are released but they are never completed. Most of the funding is usually swallowed in corruption, at least that is what history teaches us.

The government of Punjab aims to provide clean drinking water to over 35 million people by the middle of 2017 and some 20 billion rupees (almost $200 million) is being allocated for the effort in the upcoming budget, said Muhammad Farasat Iqbal, chief executive officer of Punjab Saaf Pani Company.

“It’s one of the top priorities of the provincial government, to ensure provision of clean drinking water in each locality, as access to clean water is a fundamental human right,” he said.

Iqbal said the clean water would be provided free of cost but beneficiary communities would pool money each month to pay for maintenance of the ATMs and filtration plants.

According to Pakistan’s national drinking water policy, 35 percent of Pakistan’s population doesn’t have access to safe drinking water. The policy estimates that diseases related to water, sanitation and hygiene issues cost Pakistan’s economy about 112 billion rupees ($1.1 billion) each year in health costs and lost earnings.

As i said, funding is never the problem but the completion of these projects. Most of the funding is usually swollen in corruption. I remember Shahbaz Sharif promised in 2008 that all of Punjab will have clean water by 2010, its 2016 today. He has been in power for 30 years in Punjab, and still has failed to deliver clean water.

And you know why even a city like Lahore or heck even Punjab will ever get clean drinking water, because the mineral water mafia is worth billions of rupees. When i say billions i mean billions. Its a cartel with representation in the highest echelons of power in Pakistan. Until this cartel is broken and taken head on, you will see this cartel derail any plans for clean drinking water especially in a cash rich Province like Punjab. Think about it, Nestle charges 250 rupees for 4.4 litres of water drum and mineral water bottle of 500ml costs 20 rupees. Now do the math as 82% of Pakistanis don't have access to clean drinking water.

The only problem is the transparency of PML (N) projects. They are making whole lot of projects controvercial with their kingship attitude and if someone ask them what they are doing they label him Indian agent meanwhile the Indian prime minister found in his majesty's home taking "pyar and ashirwad" from his majesty's mother.

Just make sure the transparency and all the problems will be resolved.

The Pindi Section of Metro was build by NLC known for the shit quality construction... Remembered Sher Shah Bridge in Karachi that fell was also build by NLC... Yes The Stations were filled with water it was very heavy rain non-stop 10 hours even London and US subway system got filled with water in heavy rain... did you saw metro stations getting filled after that?
The Pindi section Sewerage system was also under construction that time.....

However, I live in Lahore and the way this project is being executed is completely pathetic. Entire Lahore is being dug all together. There are around 14 hours load shedding due to this mess in Lahore. You cannot go from one place to another without getting stuck in traffic blocks.

NLC was awarded the project by hukumat-e-Punjab and if the serage system was under construction then the development planners of Punjab should have waited for the project to be completed before going ahead with the construction of metro bus in pindi ... my concern is development of Punjab Pakistan London or US

After seeing the construction quality now NLC is out from Orange line Metro and Multan Metro .... but still the repair is being done in Pindi section???

but the main question is orange line and multan metro is not the priority.... and upgradation of gov hospitals, schools , & sewerage system, underground electrification, security & renewable energy.... plus accelerate the computerization of land records, new universities, build new cities dont stuff everything in lahore, or expand cities like multan, rahim yar khan etc , protect forests & wildlife, more better railway lines to connect other cities in province, safe animals breeds in Punjab are the priorities.... the budget allocated for the upgradtion is too small ......

there is budget allocated for each and every field...

It is loan, which will be later paid by tax-payers money. The real debate is, is the project needed? no it is not, though Karachi could do with such a project. Doesn't Lahore already have Metro bus? if it does, the project is unneeded, it's not that i am against it. Be honest with your selves.

Clean drinking water program

60 to 65% of Lahoris do not have access to clean drinking water(figures from media). Priorities are misplaced.

Here's a simple number for you that was released today. Pakistan is the third worst country in terms of malnutrition. Now you tell me, what's more important. Orange Train worth 160 billion rupees or feeding our people.

Does tackling malnutrition or people's problem present a positive image of PMLN? big projects meaning, great publicity. Can't wait for the expensive ads though, these retards...

Khadam-e-alla should show middle finger to all political parties and complete this project ASAP. Otherwise people living in surrounding gonna suffer due to dig down all across Multan road. PTI, PPP and PML-Q are incompetent, losses can't do anything for the country just waste time on stupid protest and dharna politics. These politicians don't care about people but politics.
