Pakistan President has assets ‘beyond his means’ of $1.5 billion - Times Online
there is no limit....
I hope this clarifies a lot of questions. Gen Musharraf is absolutely right - If people didn't like NRO then they shouldn't have voted for the same corrupt lot.
As its pakistan internal politics so my knowledge is obviously limited....However using the common sense i would like to question about one single benefit that NRO has bring in to Pakistan....NRO allowed all these people to fight elections...You can easily put the blame on people for choosing them but cannot vindicate yourself....Mind it people did not just vote for Zardari right??? Its not like Zaradri fought on all seats...However NRO allowed a person to take the most dignified post of your country(President Post) and with all due respect made the mockery out of it(jokes on Zardari...Mr 10% and what not)...Don't you think so???
In simplest terms - Takeout NRO and Asif Zardari can still run for elections. BB wanted to take advantage of Pakistan's political situation at that time. In return of co-operation, BB asked for all cases to be removed. There were no convictions and most of these were politically motivated. So, NRO had no impact on Zaradri taking part in elections.
However from your post # 49 i got this inclination that you are vindicating Musharraf for bringing in NRO and saying its people fault to have elected such leaders..Is that correct??...Also if you can please share any single benefit that NRO bring in to Pakistan...this is what Musharraf said in the article you posted "My interest was only national with absolutely no personal bias or agenda."
Gen Musharraf himself calls it a blunder. At the time he didn't know that BB will die and there was no pressure from NS on BB not to accpet it.
This is pure BS...Sorry to say that...Is this the way of ending cases launched for political mileage??? And who will decide that a case is true vs a fake case created out of political rivalry??? What the heck are courts afor???The benefit for Pakistani politics was an end to cases launched for political mileage.
To me its a matter of great concern...As far i know there is hell lot of corruption in Pakistan(i can say that because like other things when it comes to corruption we both are trying to overscore each other)...Are we saying there was no corruption in PPP govt..or for that matter in Musharraf Govt...It has been almost two years since elections and there has been no cases against any politicial entity.
