Power shortfall drops to 1426MW LAHORE: A sharp decline was witnessed in power outages as weather turned pleasant in parts of the country.

According to Pepco, the electricity shortfall is down to 1426 MW with power generation soaring to 12030MW against the demand of 13726MW. As a result, a significant decline in loadshedding was noted in urban as well as rural areas.

A Pepco spokesman said that KESC administration was also directed to and fix and run its nonfunctional power plants instead of saving the perks.

However, the Karachi power utility paid no attention to the notice, due to which 700 MW of electricity was provided Karachi.

Should be drops by 1426 MW, not drops to.

Regardless, if they're talking about weather dropping the demand, that won't work for too long. They need to keep increasing production capacity till we reach the demand level (though I doubt they can do that).

I agree... "drop to" is correct in this case.
e.g. the shortfall was 1600 MW before but it dropped to 1426 MW now... If one is referring only to the difference between the two then he should say the shortfall has dropped by 174 MW.

I am afraid this will be just a temporarily relief.

Iska matlab garmi kam ho gai to logo ne AC/cooler ka istemal kum kar dia.

The drop in demand resulted in drop of power shortage.

So this is no good news or due to increase in power generation capacities.

Jab garmi jyada hoyegi to phir demand and supply mismatch aur jyada hoga.

Here in Peshawar, there has been no loadshedding since Friday (but twice for less then 10mins). This is quite intriguing. The good/bad weather shouldn't be affecting the electricity productions. I wonder why were they doing it in Winters since there were enough rains?

3,000 USD = 250,000 PKR, which for a common man is way expensive. And BTW would love to know more that how this much money can make us independent of WAPDA? What is the secrete plan? Don't tell me about Solar Panels...

Get an Old inverter, a Solar cell (In India govt pays 50% for every solar commodity We buy), A double coil, make a solar grid , Integrated everything keeping Inverter as My supply Line... please care to explain how can you get rid of this electricity crisis for good after investing only 3,000USD per home?

and do not forget average peoples in one household in Pakistan are 5-10 or even 15 in some cases and not 2-3

USD 3000 will not suffice.

Since, solar power equipments are very costly. They need regular maintenance and can also got stolen or damaged.

i heard that the circular debt was addressed n pepco started running some old IPPs..n thats a short term measure to ease the pressure..
