When we fought and won Mongol empire, France, Japan, US, all these countries were bigger than Vietnam in population, area, economy etc. In the meantime, India were under much smaller countries rule for thousands years.

USSR bankrupted bcz of competing USA's Star War plan, not bcz of VN, that why Russia keep selling weapon on credit to VN .As long as VN still exist so Russia will earn lots of benefit from selling weapon to another ASEAN countries like Malaysia -Indonesia-Burma and hope Phil with Su-30 KMI soon.

India can earn lots of money for overhauling Russia jet fighter in ASEAN countries, she can offer Naval training to ASEAN also.

USSR bankrupted bcz it went head to head on arm race with U.S and also bcz USSR offered so much cheap credits and donations to VN, north Korea, eastern communist europe in order to earn their loyalty and alliance toward Soviet Union, in fact U.S.S.R had earned nothing in term of profit from selling arm at that time..mostly sale with lost.
