Pork or nothing: how school dinners are dividing France

. .
We're talking about blood sausages. Doubt students eat those.
You are wrong. It is actually a "proverb" in Sweden.

Q: How is your economy?
A: I bought blood sausage for lunch.

Means economy is no good.

I had it one month ago, but it is maybe once or twice a Year.
You have to eat it with lingonberry jam, but I normally don't add bacon.

If you don't like it, pack a lunch. The food looks much better than the stuff we were served in the states.

Glad to be of Service!

Business opportunity for you. Buy one of these (below) - I assume your clean shaven, slap it on and set up as "Dial a Mullah" service. You could go revert and make killing at £10 per advice.

Ps. I will settle for 10% commission for "pimping" you.

Need to be more expensive :chilli:.
The Qur'an says that people selling the words of the Qur'an cheaply, are the worst of all sinners.
I may interpret that the wrong way of course :toast_sign:, or bad translation.

Lot of people don't give a fcuk to religion and they are vegans because they think it's healthy for the body. Even if France thinks that somehow the national identity is at stake because of non-pork dishes, at least offer some vegan dishes. That is like common sense.

Thats true man...How can you be unfair to Vegans with the the brotherly fight among the Non Vegtarian people...Spare vegans out of this fight and have a menu for them...They might be thinking that what the heck is the difference in eating a chicken and a pork from Vegan point of view..:yahoo:

Local culture is "its my choice"

So shouldnt that be respected?

Before some migrants move to a place then should understand the sentiment of the local culture...If they are not ready to adapt themselves then they have the choice to go the place where there religious belifs are respected...This is a fundaments rule in all culture...I think same concept goes in Pakistan too...Do you allow the religious belif of Non Muslim people to take precedence in your culture your nation???

When i was doing EuroTrip, in Italy went to a stand which was selling pizzas. We couldn't be sure of the ingredients and asked the man "Are there any pork in your pizzas"......man didn't answered our question but said "I'm not selling anything to you"... and shooed us away.... :cheesy:

After years of French controversies over headscarves, pork has become the new battleground in the nation’s uneasy debate over national identity and the place ofIslam. Bacon and sausage school dinners are being used by rightwing politicians to hammer home what it means to be French. Court battles and vicious political spats have erupted as protesters warn that controversial menu changes are sending a message to Muslim or Jewish children that to be truly French, they must eat roast pork. Politicians, as they go to war over the ham on school dinner plates, are fighting about the true meaning of French secularism and whether it has been hijacked and twisted by the right in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks.

You were criticizing his cooking.
If he wants to put pork on his pizzas, then pork it is.

Suggest You watch the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld if you want a good example of a rude chef.

A colleague of mine got a verbal bashing at our local lunch joint, because he ordered a la carte.
The owner obviously felt that he rejected the "daily meal".

Yeah...but... :(

I don't care what he puts in his pizzas...we weren't going to it if there was pork in it. Simple as that.

I get your point though. :)

And i can't forget the "pork shops" in Spain......i haven't smelt such a strong odor in a restaurant till that day.

Now a days a lots of injustice is done to Muslims across the world. A country like france is not an exception too.

Not getting preferential treatment is injustice?
Requiring that France change it ways to accomodate foreign ideas is injustice.

That said, it is not unlikely that racist revel in this.
Likewise muslims revel in beeing victims whatever happens.

The muslim way needs to be to become good citizens and friends with the native French.
It is not through the courts.
