Poll suggests more than 86% of Pakistanis support PTI for 2023 elections

The comfort zone for pti is its younger voting bloc
Who have actually converted their older counterparts to PTI too. Case in point my family who was traditionally a PPP voter have all voted PTI last election. No wonder PTI won so many seats. Establishment support could be a factor but to disregard the huge voter shift from traditional party lines to PTI is just plain stupid and disrespects our votes. Phir kehnde boota gaalan kad'da ae.

.
Nevertheless, Pakistan's intention to hold elections digitally can only be foreshadowed by strict legislation for online ethics and privacy concerns.
What privacy? Using the internet comes with a NO PRIVACY tag if you haven't got the memo yet.

Pakistan’s mobile internet users as a percentage of the population were recorded at 21% at end of January 2019, as per the report prepared by We Are Social and Hootsuite.

Paper elections can be defrauded, while a digital one cannot. All you have to do to sweep a paper election is by doing a nawaz sharif (Mje 2/3 aksariat chahiye!) and get the RO's to turn the election in your favor.

A thorough audit by all stakeholders including third party white hat researchers in a digital system can make sure all possible loopholes are closed.

I couldnt manage what you guys did. No matter what we did, we couldnt convince my father and grandfather and the rest to not vote PML N. We didnt ask them to vote PTI just not vote PML N. We of this generation all voted PTI and others Noon. :(

I tend to think it depends on multiple factors, including socio-economic standing.

That is actually true even in central punjab a large chunk of the under 30 vote is with pti

Their only true enemy are the stupid decision Lhan makes during ticket distribution

I beg them to give tickets to those who fought for the party instead of new arrivals
True in 2018 they gave ticket to one of my relatives for MNA seat and then took it back and gave it to an ex PPP MNA and that guy was corrupt to the core so he lost badly...

Are cybersecurity experts from Iran helping with this effort?

I agree, I've been suggesting this this for years. However, proportional representation is not easy.

One of the prerequisites IMO for PR is a more mature (stable) political system. Chances are that a hung parliament in Pakistan at every general election would be the most likely outcome. You then have to search among the largest parties who could form alliances to bring stable government. Significant political turmoil can and will be inherent in a PR system. That might be okay for a trustworthy sovereign in charge of an advanced republic like Germany, but in Pakistan it sounds like a risky prospect.

Another big risk is that you could cede political ground to extreme and fringe parties, this is the case with true PR systems, a small band of extremist members can threaten to bring down a coalition government and thus those few extremists often win unreasonable concessions. This also means that PR governments are usually much weaker, and way less stable. Also, all those people who are currently against Pakistan's political system as inept, corrupt, and useless, or those that are upset that PTI for example lacks the numbers and legislative power in the assembly to truly affect change... these people would find a PR system to be much, much worse. On this forum, I hear a lot of critics of democracy, and also people complaining that IK can't get anything done because of the limitations of a parliamentary system. A PR system for them would be way worse, IK would likely not have been made PM if PR had been in place. If a PR election were held tomorrow, the most likely outcome would be some messy and weak alliance of opposition parties. Conversely, the arguments in favour of PR are plain, and hard to ignore in a country that is as diverse as Pakistan.

So while I agree that PR is eventually the answer, I don't think we're ready for it. And it's important to note the shortcomings of PR and what it might cost us.

Spot on analysis, PR has been touted as a way forward for the UK. This becomes the call every election but is never implemented. Why would a political party legislate in its favour when the most probable outcome is hung parliament.

In all countries with PR system the successful government is most probable a coalition, yes it eliminates fringe separation but FPTP backs majority. Even UK is not evolved enough to implement PR. In Pakistan its very much a "dog eats dog" type scenario. Maybe in the next 90-100 years once democratic parties are transitioning power peacefully minus any coups - you can think about it.

They implemented this in Scotland - the feedback from Scots I know is that it works. However, by and large their population is not over 5.6 million and being a small population this system works for them. Compare that to Pakistan not accounting for traditional fault lines of Punjabi, Sindhi etc and further into local demographics PR will not work for Pakistan.

So essentially the same group of mafaad parast tola masquerading as one party or the other warranted by winds and weather.

I guess this was about the promise PTi made about bringing in new faces and young faces like the current interior minister.
