it is apparent none of the Taiwan leadership dare to do that starting from Chen Su Bian.
Undoubtedly China has de jure sovereignty over Taiwan as per UN.
Recently China is elected to the World Court securing 139 votes although a fuming USA voted against it.

IMO to invade and occupied Taiwan Island will only take a day or so and it is all over based on China Military capability today and a couple of months to root out the remnants.

But why should China do it now when sooner or later Taiwan will returned back to its fold and peacefully.
Not unless Taiwan at the behest of USA forced China to act. Just like how Mike Pompeo coaxed the Indian.

In the past including in 1949, USA had send their naval fleet to the Strait of Taiwan to stop CPC from invading the island. Today the entire USN fleet will be annihilated within an hour.

So you see any fool can see that USA won't participated in a direct war with China but Trump needed to create a fake tense scenario to force Taiwan High Tech Semiconductors Firms to relocate to USA.
