That is absolutely correct.

There are voices in Israel calling for an incursion into Syria in order to save the Druze from ISIS when Assad falls, but it is very unlikely that these voices would ever reach the government, moreover become a majority in the government.

Let's not take it too far. It's not fault of Bashar, it's fault of Arab leaders. Golan was lost under his fathers rule. In the 48 war we simply had too much corruption and limitied our objectives. The military commanders on ground did not want to limit objectives and wanted all of Palestine liberated. These being the Egyptian army(73) and Iraqi army(48) leaderships. However political leadership in Arab world ordered other military branches to target their own armies inside Palestine to limit our advances. And then Syria and Egypt had to plan to recover occuipped territories which was uncovered by Jordan because Jordan at time didn't want to participate or be dragged in war. And also due to Egyptian army stalling its offensive which gave Israel time to launch offensives. You can't recover such territories without taking over cities inside modern day Israel. The terrain does not permit for it and Arab armies need strong air defense and air force to do otherwise.

So to recover Golan half of northern Israel needs to be taken essenstially. Bashar himself can't take up that task and his army couldnt have done it alone. So we shouldn't blame , such thing is not possible without highly advanced army. The only other alternative is insurgency which has no limits. All of Palestine can be recovered that way. The worry is if after Palestine is liberated West may see Islamist insurgency as a threat and launch invasion from west and east of Palestine and north(Egypt, Syria, Lebanon or from sea into northern Palestine).

Let me get this straight. Here are two claims made by Israelis and their supporters.
a) Israel hates Islamic extremist groups + benefactors (ISIS, Hamas, Al Qaeda, Iran, , , )
b) Israel does not want anything to do with Syria.

If it doesn't want an Islamic extremist group in Syria why does it support Syrian rebels, many of who have switched sides to fight for the more radical groups?

By Assad I was referring to hafez Al Assad and actually I think the Golan heights were lost in the ill-fated 1967 war and not the 1948 one.

Israel is helping the lesser enemy. Hizbollah is helping the Assad regime and Hizbollah is the moral enemy of Israel. So, its logical that Israel is aiding groups who are fighting the Hizbollah..This doesn't mean Israel is in anyway interested in capturing Syrian territory.
The Golan heights were captured by Israel from Syrian in 1967 war when Syria unilaterally attacked Israel and Israel has held it since then using it as a buffer zone to protect itself from any future misadventures from Syrian regime..
