1. 200k is not enough, which is why i said russia should have declared war off the bat. it would have allowed immediate use of all available professional and trained conscripts, the initial 200-300k can go in first but be immediately followed up a at least a few hundred k more over the course of a month, and allows them to begin mobilization immediately and all those new conscripted troops would have been ready to go months ago. there were many reports that even the initial professional units that went in were in fact well under manned, because their default expectation was that major action like this means war and thus the infantry positions in their BTGs would be filled by conscripts...but its a special operation so those positions were never filled leading to dumb undermanned and un-supported armor charges and the subsequent poor performance and now stalemate as ukraine calls up ever more people and more western arms.

those "quiet" borders like the one with Kazakhstan (their longest border neighbor) and the one with china(the second longest border neighbor) can be lightly guarded, manned mostly by police. in fact vast majority of russia's land borders are more or less safe from invasion or potentially needing large military action, only in the west does it face nato. in fact, due to nuclear arms, i think they could leave purely police on all borders and be fine in the short term(of course that limits actions but hey war comes first).

Well, if you try to bum rush the Ukrainian, you can technically leave 0 people guarding the border for 3 months and send all 900K in, well, you can do that, that's just stupid in term of Tactical Cosideration.

Otherwise, it is going to take years to build up the capacity to use the entirety of your military power and focus them on one place. The way Russia Army is going is they have 200,000 professional soldiers, 150,000-300,000 Conscript and 400000 National Guard (Border Guard) only the first one is properly trained. I don't know how Russian train their troop, but it takes anywhere between 12-24 months for the US National Guard to be fully deployable to war. And I am talking about low intensity conflict like Afghanistan, not High Tempo Warfare in Ukraine.

On the other hand, you can't really mask any mobilisation, the US will know, and they will prepare the Ukrainian for it.

2. russia logistics is shit. you wont find me disagreeing. but again, something that can be solved with a war declaration...well not solved, but at least band-aided. russia is still on a civilian economy.and if the war was quick people might not even have noticed.

The reason why we see the 40 miles convoy is because they don't have enough Forward Supply Points, nor Airfield that help with the digestion, both take years to build.

On the other hand, the hard asset is only one part of the problem, the more important problem I did not mention is the Command-and-Control Structure for Russian Army is totally and utterly F'ed off. That's why they don't know where and when to go and that's why the very fact that people up there think 40 miles convoy is your best solution to supply your troop to begin with. And that is not going to change in merely years, it's going to take decade if not multiple decade to reform.

3. ukrainian air defence for a long time in this war runs basically the same gear that russia has but like.. the older version, they should know how to suppress it. but you're right, they barely have any EW capabilities and the Ukrainians are cued by nato. they do seem to have adapted some what, using drones and such to try and bait out the missiles. still, fine if they wanna lob missiles, but dang, use them earlier. its like the VKs doesn't exists and even now barely exists .

Whether they know is one thing, whether they have the gear to do it is another. Again, unlike US, which proven they can do SEAD with EDub platform and Anti-radiation missile (USAF did that in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq again) China have the stuff on paper but unproven, as we don't know if that would work because China have not done it in real life before, Russia, on the other hand, don't have Growler or Prowler or even J-16 to jam Ukrainian Frequency, don't have shrike or HARM missile to engage enemy radar, don't even have advance AWACS to plot the course to do SEAD, which mean even if Russia know how to defeat Ukrainian Air Defence, they would have to do it the way US did back in Vietnam War. Which is to fly a Thunderchief (or any fast aircraft) across the frontline, and hope that Ukrainian is turning on their radar to engage then some how drop PGM on that Radar before it shot at the bait. US didn't even did a good job with Shrike back in Vietnam (they lost like 3800 fix wing aircraft in that 10 years) and they were facing SA-2 or SA-7 older SAM, Russia is facing S-300 and without anything that can home in to the Ukrainian Radar....
