Politics in Bangladesh: One and only one

right after the death of Maulana Noor ul Islam, weren't many other spiritual program hosts arrested? some people are pointing finger at Hasan ul Haq of BAL. the motives could be obvious to whoever knows Hasan ul Haq's background

Here's what are our brilliant media has to say:

Yes, six were sued.

Members of his "group" did point on Jamaat and "Wahabi" types.
Mohhamd Imran Tushar, general secretary of the Dhaka city unit of Bangladeshi Islamic Chattra Sena, an associate student body of Bangladesh Islamic Front, announced a daylong strike in the capital for Sunday protesting the murder.

He alleged that pro-Jamaat presenters of Islamic programmes in different TV channels are behind the murder.

Tushar Ahmed, a follower of Islamic cleric Faruqui, said as he always talked in favour of shrine and Milad, opponent groups might have killed him over the ideological disputes.

His family say the same:
The victim’s family alleged that those opposing Maulana Faruqi’s religious beliefs masterminded the killing.

Faisal Faruqi, son of the victim, said, “My father had been receiving threats for the last one and a half years. He used to advocate his belief in mazars (shrines) and milad mehfils.”

“Those who opposed his ideology threatened him to face dire consequences. They often told my father that you’re confusing people through these activities. Stop it or we’ll kill you.”

Funny. With so much media attention on Shahbagh last year, why did his family remain quiet on the matter? It was business as usual with his shows.

If I'm not mistaken, this belief in shrines is seen as grave worshiping by the Salafists. Though, it was necessarily the case with Faruqi. From what I gather from his programs, he did not advocate people to worship dead people. His son does not appear to be very bright either.

It's confusing...

not just some JeI people but many non-JeI are opposed to some mazar stuff. then again i have seen a spectrum of views among JeI people regarding these things. Abul Ala Maududi himself is from Chisti sufi silsila by the way. i was familiar with Noor ul Islam Faruqi shows as well, and agree with you. JeI or even "Wahabi types" just cannot be obvious ones to have had that much grudge on that guy

Although I do not support of his unnatural death however he was an ulama e soo for the reason that he was encouraging matters that we're not backed by Quran e masjid and Hadees e nabvi (s. a.a.s). He was a promoter of Mazar, phir, shab e barat and other conflicting matter.
