RAWALPINDI: Complying with the demands of the locals, the police on Friday barred Ahmadis from entering their worship centre in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi.
Leading the locals, businessman Sharjeel Mir told The Express Tribune that three days back on a consensus, it was decided to prevent any sort of worship in the centre.
Mir said that at a meeting called by the locals which was attended by DCO Saqib Zafar, Superintendent of Police Matloob Hussain, ulemas and other officials, it was decided that the worship centre will now be used only as a residence and if their demands are not met, then they will launch a protest.
The businessman also said that a congregational prayer followed by a demonstration outside the worship centre was planned in case the consensus was degraded.
Today, fearing a huge turnover at the expected protest, the police had barred Ahmadis from entering the premises.
A representative of the Ahmaddiya community told The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity that the police officials present there kept telling them that the move had been made to prevent any possible scuffle as a result of the protest.
The police confined the Ahmadis present inside the worship place and barred the ones coming from outside.
The Ahmaddiya community representative further said that the prayers scheduled for today have been hindered.
A deadline of March 1 had been set by a religious group for the fulfilment of their demands by the Ahmadis.
Last Friday, around 700 locals had gathered outside the same worship centre, demanding the removal of barricades and CCTV cameras installed outside it.
Backed by a Jihadi organization, the protestors had alleged that “unconstitutional” activities were being carried out in the worship centre.
However, the community had emphasised that they had committed no unlawful activities and had pleaded that the hate campaign be stopped so they could feel safe in the area.

Stopping worship is extreme intolerance..

how characteristically north-desi..

Poor Ahmadis!! They were in the front-line in the fight for Pakistan creation and now this is what they got in return after 64 years of independence. Another example of growing sunni arrogance/violence in Pakistan..

.
This is what happened in India . Before 50 years ao , where high caste people did not allow low caste people in to temple.India being a secular country some fought for their right to enter temples others converted to other religions.

So sad Pakistan is a Islamic country, they have only one chance to live that is to become a sunni muslim. No forced conversions in pakistan.

extremists will always exist in a society. they exist in the modern and secular western democracies as well
they know how to operate and use the the freedom of expression and personal rights to their advantage.
when the times are hard due to economic or security reasons they come out and blame the weak around them for all the ills.

Pakistan is no different unfortunately. by the way please dont paint all Sunnis with the same brush. Sunnis of the Subcontinent introduced the Sufi Islam of tolerance, love and mutual respect. thats why the names of the sufi saints live on after so many centuries and their shrines are frequented by people of all faith.

Ahmedis are the victims of injustice and lack of protection from the law enforcement agencies. just like the poor Pakistanis who dont have any influence or not enough money to buy off the justice.

Sick. Compare to the U.S., where President Eisenhower federalized troops to protect a handful of minority students from a hostile community: the Little Rock Nine.

How ironic. The same country that was made as a result of religious persecution by the majority is now doing the same to it's minorities:rolleyes:

I am proud of seeing such a positive response from my countrymen. What we are doing to the Ahmedi's is the most horrible crime we can commit on another human being. It should be condemned as strongly as possible. Very few people know this but Quaid E Azam's right hand man was an Ahmedi and our honest leader called him his "son" so those wanting to oppress the Ahmedis should know they are anti pakistani traitrors who should be kicked out of Pakistan. (This man is Muhammed Zafarullah Khan fyi. )

There's another case. Have you heard what they are doing to Shezan juices just because the owners are Ahmedi. On the passport you have to say you are not an ahmedi to sign. How racist. The intolerance is within is. The hatred is in our hearts.

Nothing can change it unless we look in our hearts and seek to change ourselves. The first requirement of our religion is to treat everyone respectfully, not treat them like dogs because they believe in an extra prophet. Thats just a childish idiotic, arrogant belief.

There is no justification for what we are doing.
If we are doing it because they are muslims (or think they are):
Our Prophet said "A Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim. He will not oppress him, abandon him in difficulties, forsake him, or insult him".

If we are doing it because they are non-muslims (or we think they are):
“Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights, or burdens them with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment.” (Abu Dawud)

Dear acts of brutality on one hand should be condemned but we should not have sorry attitude abt basic beleifs. To majority of Muslims believing that Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is the last profit is a matter of life and death whether they are Sunni,Shia or Wahabi. Further Ahmedis were declared as Non Muslims by our NA members including religious Scholars of different Muslim sects so we should not start such discussion like we believe they are Non Muslims.
As Pakistanis we have equal rights but in case of religion we have different clear paths.

Blasphemy culpirts are being continuously protected by West even a person involved in burning of innocent Muslim men in Yohanabad area got refuge in USA. The Christian woman which was sentenced by the court in blasphemy case was also given refuge by an unknown Western country which also resulted in loss of Gvernor Salman Taseer's life. When Muslims will not get justice in Islamic Republic of Pakistan then brutal acts against minorities can't be avoided.

Now this tells us all about the intention of the protestors. I mean they want removal of barricades and CCTV cameras. How the hell does a barricade or a CCTV camera hurt anyone's religious feeling.
The purpose here is: State is already totally unwilling to protect Ahmadis, now the Mullah brigade wants to bare Ahmadis from the right of self protection and make them easy target.
Next thing you will hear is, suicide attack on the worship centre, and then Mullah brigade will accuse Ahmadis of inciting disorder and state will stay paralyzed again.
Comon man why are we so fooled by the Mullah, please start using brains people. This monster will consume everything, once its done with Ahmadis, then its going to start eating ur children and it will be too late to react then! We need to separate state from Religion
