Model of Homar-300 tactical missile system konflikty.pl

Polish Ministry of Defence looks to buy new Homar-300 tactical missile system developed by Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) and Lockheed Martin Company.

The Homar-300 tactical missile system with 300 km range will be contracted in 2017, that was reported by Zespół Badań i Analiz Militarnych.

The Polish Ministry of Defence (MoD) planned to purchase sixty WR-300 launchers by 2022. These would form a rocket artillery battalion operations module (Dywizjonowy Modul Ogniowy, DMO), divided into three Homar combat modules, plus on training module. Traning module will form 6 Homar’s and they will be in CSAiU in Torun. The Polish ArmedForces, announced the first WR-300 MRL systems will be delivered to the land forces in 2018.

The self-propelled wheeled WR-300 Homar will be based on wheeled Jelcz 6×6 truck chassis. It would have a surface-to-surface capability at a range of up to 300 km, compared with the 40 km range of the wheeled WR-40 Langusta MRLs currently used by the Polish Army.

New might not be the best word to describe the system, since it's based on the proven HiMARS rocket system (same launcher, different chassis).

Imagine an HiMARS pod on this chassis - that's Homar (Lobster. Yes, lobster) 300.

The chassis is already found on the WRL 100 Liwiec counter battery radar system.

And on the WR-40 rocket launcher.

A high mobility variant with a smaller, lighter chassis is also in development and the model can be seen in the OP.

Poland's getting some good gear recently. NSM, Homar-300, S70, their navy still needs some work to replace aging vessels and augment newer vessels like ORP Ślązak (based on the Meko A-100) and ORP Kormoran, but their land component is sea-denial options are improving markedly.

Pretty nice system all around and I wonder if the US would be willing to supply Poland with a handful of anti-ship ATACMS missiles? ATACMS is currently out of production, but the US stock is being upgraded with new seekers that'll allow them to strike moving targets on land or at sea.
