What's new

PNS Saif 253 on the way- new pictures!!!!

aray bhai - the type 21's are going to be retired due to heavy maintenance costs - the number of surface ships need to be kept at 10-12 - the budget of PN does not allow for purchase of new surface platforms and submarines at the same time.

so in the interim, the 6 OHP's look like a good deal at 80m/ship/year investment - overall spend 480m over six years is not a bad idea - meanwhile induct 3 new subs over that period for 1.2Bill and pay-off the loan on the F-22s and re-negotiate with china for four 054s using the loan facility once again.

OHP gona b stop gaps untill new built frigates enter in service and dat gona b 10 to 12 years n top of dat PN gona maitain a mix of new and usd ffg fleet till 2025 i m sure becouse defence doctrine but wars cannot be won bye defencive nature we hav to take it to the enemy territory in air on land and in sea give them a hard punch b4 they punch you

Yes, the Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates, FFG-07 class, have lost their anti-air missile capability when the Mk 13 SM-1/harpoon launcher's arm was removed... On the other hand this simple and cheap Searam upgrade will give these frigates a useful self defense anti-air missile capability...

http://www.raytheon.com/capabilitie...ments/content/rtn_rms_ps_searam_datasheet.pdf

Harpoon or another SSM can be installed with their racks in front of the bridge of the ship easily...

Simply by doing the upgrade the US Navy was going to do before it was cut by budget cuts, Pakistan could have a very useful frigate at a very modest cost... Searam is a new technology weapon system, whereas the SM-1 is an old technology weapon system... From an area defense medium range missile to a close range self defense missile...

The US Navy is installing the Searam on one of its new LCS class ships of the Independence class being built by General Dynamics, whereas the other new LCS class of ships of the Freedom class being built by Lockheed Martin is getting the RAM launcher using the similar missile...

By the way the LCS type of ships are being built to replace the FFG-07s in the US naval fleet, the reason why the FFG-07s are being decommissioned and available for Pakistan's navy...

AFAIK PN has officially expressed interest in a total of 6 (incl. McInerney, which arrives this August)

Hopefully by mid of this year or by Sept the 3rd one will be home.

I wonder if that one would be upgrade or otherwise the picture of control room shows its a technology from 60's.

A question... when we say upgraded than do we have a reference of technology?

I believe 70-80 million$ is quite handsome amount, lets see what we get, in return!
