PN U-Boats!

The German Type 212 is a highly advanced design of non-nuclear submarine (U-Boat) developed by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG (HDW) for the German Navy. It features diesel propulsion and an additional air-independent propulsion (AIP) system using Siemens proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cells. The submarine can operate at high speed on diesel power or switch to the AIP system for silent slow cruising, staying submerged for up to three weeks without surfacing and with no exhaust heat. The system is also said to be vibration-free, extremely quiet and virtually undetectable.

Design

Partly owing to the "X" arrangement of the stern planes, the Type 212 is capable of operating in as little as 17 metres of water, allowing it to come much closer to shore than most contemporary submarines. This gives it an advantage in covert operations, as SCUBA-equipped commandos operating from the boat can surface close to the beach and execute their mission more quickly and with less effort.
A notable design feature is the prismatic hull cross-section and smoothly faired transitions from the hull to the sail, improving the boat's stealth characteristics. The ship and internal fixtures are constructed of nonmagnetic materials, reducing significantly chances of it being detected by magnetometers or setting off magnetic naval mines.

Weapons

Currently, the Type 212A is capable of launching the fiber optic-guided DM2A4 Seehecht ("Seahake") heavyweight torpedoes, the WASS A184 Mod.3 torpedoes, the EuroTorp BlackShark torpedoes and short-range missiles from its six torpedo tubes, which use a water ram expulsion system. Future capability may include tube-launched cruise missiles.
The short-range missile IDAS (based on the IRIS-T missile), against air threats, but also against small or medium-sized sea- or near land targets, is currently being developed by Diehl BGT Defence to be fired from Type 212's torpedo tubes. IDAS is fiber-optic guided and has a range of approx. 20 km. Four missiles fit in one torpedo tube, stored in a magazine. First deliveries of IDAS for the German Navy are scheduled from 2014 on.
A 30 mm auto-cannon called Muräne (moray) to support diver operations or to give warning shots is being considered too. The cannon, probably a version of the RMK30 built by Rheinmetall, will be stored in a retractable mast and can be fired without the boat emerging. The mast will also be designed to contain three Aladin UAVs for reconnaissance missions. This mast is likely to be mounted on the 2nd batch of Type 212 submarines for the German Navy.

Type 212 is far better and stealthy as compare to type 214 but i think there is an export ban on the Type 212 by German Government

.
Pakistan should atleast try for type 212 alongwith the type 214 subs

you should read the details of 212 above

there is an export ban on 212 not on 214

my friend 212 is not supirior to 214.
u-212 has diffrent materials which makes it more suitable for sallow water operations while 214 can go more deeper with stronger hull. 214 can dive 50-100meters more then the 212!

.
The Type 214 is a diesel-electric submarine developed by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH (HDW). It features diesel propulsion with an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system using Siemens polymer electrolyte module (PEM) hydrogen fuel cells. It is based on features of the Type 212, but as the export version of the more advanced Type 212 submarine it lacks the non-magnetic hull (to avoid detection) and other classified technologies. Also Type 214 is more similar to the very successful Type 209 submarine, while Type 212 was an independent project of the German Navy with significant changes to Type 209

. .
no their are no ban on 212 because itlalian and greek navy uses 212 and 214 is superior to 214

.
212 is a joint project of German and Italian Navies

here is the fleet of Greece Hellenic Navy and there is no type 212 in its fleet they are using type 209 and type 214

thats what i said that hellenic navy is using 209 and 214 becuase ther is a ban on 212 export and only italian and german navies are using 212

. . .
hellenic navy has no u214.its still waiting in kiel.german firm waiting for payment but greeks says they ll not accept the boat cos it has performance problems.

greeks has 8 sub.4 of them old 209 1100 4 0f them 209 1200

turkey has 14 sub and 8 of them 209 1400 6 of them 209 1200

turkey has 14 greece has 8 sub and i think they must make modernise their old 4 1100 type.turkish navy has not that model.

.
greek has type 214 i saw its photo in militryphotos.net site they inducted it

.
greeks has no money to buy it.they couldnt pay for their 170leopard 2a6 too.they have receive 130 of them and transfers stopped.

about u214 papanikolis.probabaly u saw the boat when greek crews came to germany for tests.and after tests they said this boat has some problems and they didnt take the ship.this ship can go to another country who pay the money or germans can induct it if nobody buy greeks or other states.

as i said greece has not u 214
