Yes i heard this news as well, I think Pakistan Navy Lags behind Indian Navy so PN needs to Modernize Fast and U-214 F-22p Frigate AEW aircrafts will surely add a New Punch in PN Arsenal. Pakistan Navy is on the Right Track of Modernization but the Process is little slow but we can Live with it. Lets Hope Best for PN and Pakistan.

grrrrrrrreat newz!
which AEW could it be?
-Saab-2000 Erieye
-P-3C AEW
both systems have pros and cons.

I think PN should be a Sub/Aviation force fleet inorder to counter somthing like 60-100 IN surface fleet!

.
Could be one of Hawkeye 2000 or Erieye IMO.

Navy to get AEW aircraft and UAVs

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy will shortly acquire Airborne Early Warning (AEW) Aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to strengthen its air fleet, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir said on Thursday.

Addressing the induction ceremony of a Fokker aircraft and commissioning of the T56 Engine Test Bench at the Pakistan Navy Aviation base PNS Mehran, he said that the induction of Z9 helicopters, AEWs and UAVs and additional P3Cs would be a force multiplier for the Naval Air Arm. To enhance the subsurface defence capability, the naval chief said a contract of Type-214 submarines would be concluded soon, according to a press release. Naval Aviation Commander Commodore Adnan Nazir said in his address that Fokker, being a versatile and multi-role aircraft, would augment the operational flexibility of the naval air power. He said that the T56 Engine Test Bench is an endeavour towards self-reliance as it would be utilised for engine overhaul and maintenance of P3C aircraft, minimising dependence on manufacturers. app

CAMCOPTER S-100
CAMCOPTER® S-100 has been designed as a platform for a wide variety of payloads, and therefore no standard payload is offered, rather they are integrated according to customer requirements. The AV features two payload bays, side hard points and an internal auxiliary electronics/avionics bay. The primary payload bay, located directly beneath the main rotor shaft, is capable of mounting payloads weighing up to 50 kg (100 lbs.).Fixed-mounted daylight and/or infrared cameras provide the operator with situational awareness and orientation.

The AV fuselage is a carbon-fibre monocoque, which gives a superior strength/weight ratio, providing maximum capacity for a wide range of payload/endurance combinations. In a standard configuration, the AV is capable of carrying a 25 kg (55 lbs) payload for up to 6 hours. The AV is powered by an aviation-certified rotary engine.

Pakistan Navy To Boost Air Surveillance Capability

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Navy will increase its aerial surveillance capabilities with the acquisition of airborne early warning and UAV systems. This was announced by the Navy's chief of staff, Adm. Noman Bashir, during a Jan. 29 visit to the service's aviation base, PNS Mehran, in Karachi.

The admiral was attending a ceremony to induct Fokker F-27 Friendship maritime surveillance aircraft into the Navy's air arm, and the commissioning of a T-56 engine test bench facility. The former were acquired from Pakistan's national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines, on retirement of the type from its service. The latter will allow for the in-house overhaul and maintenance of the T-56 engines on the Navy's growing fleet of Lockheed Martin P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft.

Though the admiral made no further comment on the UAV issue, the Navy has been evaluating the Schiebel S-100 Camcopter UAV for some time.

When asked if Bashir's latest comments were linked to the S-100, a Navy spokesman, Capt. Asif Majeed Butt, said, "There are about 14 to 15 UAVs under scrutiny, but none have been finalized." He did, however, say that the S-100 is "better" than some of the other UAVs under consideration.
:enjoy:

The AEW system in question is the P-3B Orion fitted with the E-2C Hawkeye aircraft's airborne early warning and control equipment. At IDEAS2008, an international defense trade show that took place in November in Karachi, a Lockheed official, Costas Papadopoulos, said that a number of Orions had been selected to be fitted with the Hawkeye AEW gear. But he did not comment on when delivery to the Navy is expected.

Bashir said the Navy looks forward to the arrival of Z-9EC anti-submarine warfare helicopters, which will be embarked upon the service's new F-22P Sword-class light frigates, the first of which is expected in Pakistan later this year. Both the helicopters and ships are being built in China.

He also said a deal for the Navy's next-generation submarine, the Type 214 built by Germany's Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft shipyard, would be "concluded soon." The potential terms of the deal remain undisclosed.

The real 'treasure' is the picture you have posted. Its shows the Camcopter S-100 installed with the newly developed LMM (Light Multi Purpose Missile) that can be used in air-air and air-ground role. The Camcopter S-100 can carry two of these missiles on hard-points at the sides. This indeed shows the potency of this UAV type system to turn from a simple surveillance platform into a potent UCAV armed with missiles. Pakistan Navy would be best served with this platform in both roles :yahoo:. So lets hope this VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) UAV is soon flying with the PN as a great force multiplier. :pakistan:
