To those Aristotles here who dont understand the power of symbolism, it projects the character of a nation, its very mindset. A piss poor country with a huge white palace for its ruler doesnt sit well n teaches people that this is the way of the world which they apply on a macro or micro scale in thier lives leading to a elitist society which protects the rich and opresses the poor, sound familiar?

Do u think this palace impresses foriegn delegations, are we stupid enough to think they dont knw the condition of this country. If u people are worried about international image, well the only image this sent internationally was that Pakistan is a country ruled by a corrupt elite class with 200 million slaves. This matter is of collosal significance as this mindset determins the future path of a nation.

I think it was at that moment in history that it was decided the Britts will rule India.

Well political differences aside but how come cutting the expenditure of tax payers by traveling in economy class pointless or childish?
Same for the university idea. Instead of spending BILLIONS as PM house running expense, if we can cut it down, i do not see a down side to it. Please enlighten me.

1. Travelling. A firm will send its lawyer on an international trip by first class because he arrives at the meeting fully slept in in good condition. His time is so valuable that saving the few cents on an air ticket is totally irrelevant considering his work invlves millions. If a lawyer's time is so valuable, how about the minister of a country? In the scale of government spending the savings are literally insignificant.

2. Government needs an adequate enviroment to function in. When the military move a division, the first task is to establish the Div. HQ. Everything from the beds, toilets and communication facilities are established so the commanders can do their job competently. Simialarly, government need adequate facilities. I know nothing about the building they mention, but it doesn't seem particularly plush compared to others.

They are focusing their energies on the wrong targets.
