Defence budget should be set at a level where its benefit exceeds its cost of provision by the biggest possible margin.

The greatest tragedy is not what u have mention. The greatest tragedy is your illiteracy. Pakistan's defence Budget is 2.8% of its GDP not 70%. Nawaz sharif himself gives tax of Rs 5000/- per year. He should be ashamed of saying this after paying tax less than that of a Clerk.

That is false.....because, Pakistan dished about 1.8 Trillion in expenditures out of which more than 500billion rupees is Defense.......plus the Army requested 100 billion more in the current year.

Makes me wonder why Defense is eating more than a quarter of our expenditures..........:S

Certainly, that amount cannot be 70% or 2.8% of GDP.

Out of this 30% BB and other politicians have built empires and will be answerable for that one day or another. They have cases pending against them in courts which they cannot avoid.

What about the remaining 70%.....................? Is all of this used for army..............has any general ever been asked about those funds.

Correct your info,Pakistan spends only 2.7% of its GDP on defence which is only 14% of our total fedral budget.
Our biggest expense in our budet is paying intrest over loans which is up to 22% of our total spending.Our loans have doubled in last 3 years from 4000 bn in first 62 yrs and now 8200 bn in next three years under the politicians.

I hope you next time u wil talk with figure and that verified ones.

correct your information sir Army uses maximum 21 percent of you Budget

Nawaz Sharif want to cut defence budget so he can put this in his pocket and built some more Sugar Mills.........He is already having more number of Sugar Mills than anybody else in Pakistan..........and he is just giving 5000 Rs. Tax per month......Lolz........I am paying more tax than him.
