Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is in talks with other political parties on a 'national agenda based on national priorities to take them along to find a solution to the prevailing challenges, said Mushahidullah Khan, the party's information secretary.
In an informal chat with a group of journalists, he said that the next PML-N government would focus on addressing people's problems, instead of 'power sharing' with its partners. He said that portfolios in the federal cabinet would only be allotted to "capable persons on merit".
He said that priorities had been set to address pressing issues such as power outages, crippled economy, poverty, budget deficit, unemployment and terrorism and extremism. "We are happy to see that political parties are supporting us on national issues," he said, adding that the PML-N government would take all political forces on board to address these problems. He said that short-term and long-term strategies were being chalked out to deal with prevailing challenges. About the restructuring plan of state owned enterprises, he said that merit "will be followed strictly" and there would be "no compromise on merit and experience" while appointing heads of national institutions.
