PMK criticize Indias stand on Sri Lanka holding CHOGM
Criticizing Indias stand in securing the right to Sri Lanka to hold the next CHOGM Summit there in 2013, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today said it only showed that there was no change in its policy towards Colombo.
Though India is duty-bound to raise the issue of war crimes pertaining to killing of Sri Lankan Tamils, the Central government from the beginning is protecting Sri Lanka. By securing the right to Sri Lanka for holding the next CHOGM there, it is very clear that India has not changed its policy towards Sri Lanka, PMK leader S Ramadoss said in a statement.
The Centre should understand the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu and give up its policy towards Colombo, he said, adding that the state government and political parties should jointly work towards this.
Vice President Hamid Ansari who attended the recent CHOGM meeting at Perth had said that a decision to hold the next CHOGM in Sri Lanka had already been taken in 2009.
